More stuff to read
Based on the pre-season trials, training reports, and incumbency, I’ve settled on a top 19 that largely picks itself — particularly the starting top 13, which I think is pretty much locked in.Samrani, for mine, has done enough to be locked into a…

If he is staying in the ACT then it would be for v good money; Stuart is known for paying v good money. There will be other fowards;
They are things we cannot answer Brissy; only the NRL can. I go back to Greenburg when at C'bury.......he was always a politician who rose v fast. And now look at him. Nothing of real subtsance.
I also found it laughable a report y'day Canberra would look at releasing Baptiste and J Leuliua...who i assume would both not be on gr8 money. Canterbury too. Woods and Foran, but the media hacks never ask these questions. It was v funny to see the Easts team list and supposed costs of each player along with Rothfield mentioning the lack of national players in the list i think......i had to laugh at that; it is almost as if these hacks are being paid to write this stuff.
Bris the game has gone down hill v fast i think. TG seems only intent on pushing political barriers.
mitchy, like i posted elsehwere, how come there were only 21 players on that list too and only 560k under the cap.
Salary cap of 9.4m should be for 30 players - not 21.
Are the other 9 on paper bag deals or just under that salary sombrero....serious questions need to be asked but they never will be. The sooner this info is on the public record, then the sooner any disparities can be dealt with.
Just like the player managers scandal - one under investigation suddenly "retires" and it all gets swept under the rug.
Rock, those questions won't be asked IMO; the NRL would not want to know. They have only uncovered cap issues with whistle blowers and the SMH journo; I just find it funny that teams can stockpile rep players and still get by, and yes TPA's for some helps big, this ensures they stay on top and it also shows the cap does not work with these added guidelines.
absolutely correct - they (NRL) dont have the will nor the fortitude to investigate unless someone hands them a smoking gun.
TPA's are the biggest blight on the whole game.
It artificially adds 2-3m to some clubs cap position if the figures Gus Gould quoted is to be believed.
Then you have the likes of Thoroughbreds who reportedly line up TPA's for Brisbane players - its all supposed to be at arms length but you can bet your bottom dollar that there is collusion at the highest levels (i.e. White, Bennett etc) to bring about the deals. Even though its against the NRL rules.
The now defunct "Premiership Club" i understand was modelled on the thoroughbreds but the only difference is that sharp et al were too dumb to make sure that none of the dealings were documented.....
