Was just reading about Brett Finches defection in 2009 to play 5/8 for the storm and in doing so restricting a young James Maloney to only 4 nrl appearances.Maloney left Parra at the end of 2008 because he was behind Finch and couldn't crack a spot.what could have been if Finch fucked off earlier.
Yes but we had an idiot in Hages who I actually fronted at a Wenty Vs Newton game and asked why don’t you give this guy a crack in NRL and he just looked at me as if to say WTF.The player was none other than Jimmy Maloney.
What is Maloney's exact history? He is a country boy right? When did he come to Parra? Was it just a short stint at wenty or was in he in the system from a young age? I personally do think he would have been as good if he had stayed with us. It really took him a few years to hit his straps when he landed himself in a gun roosters line up. Its sad but I highly doubt he'd have had the career he's had if he remained with us.
This stuff is so annoying as a fan. Like when Tonga left to Canterbury to get a start because Lyon was in front of him and then Lyon left at the start of the season and Tonga was killing it for the Bulldogs.
It is so exasperating Nitram, Tonga played very few games in first grade at Parra before he joined Canterbury then he played SOO for Qld and for Australia while he was at the dogs and when he came back to Parra he was either injured or he was playing terribly.
Yeah Tonga played better with good players around him and was better at a younger age which sometimes happens with backs. For example Dugan, he was heaps better when he was younger.
"Some more juniors going elsewhere ...
Fizz Latapu, Michael Fililava and Lorima Saukuru have all decided to take their talents to St George.
Are these guys a loss we can't afford or were they additional to our needs?"
"I don't believe this hearing Feb12-13 is about compensation but just whether (or not) Parra can continue to stop Lomax joining any NRL team without our permission.
If it expands to other issues it will be dragging out for a year or so."
"I think the end result will be they offering 500k and the courts dictating that that would be a fair amount. It won’t come down to the Storm losing a player of note.
If thats the case i can't see how the club could still hold onto the agreement as…"
"With a full pre - season under JR top 6. Only if Moses plays 80% of games. In my opinion Pezet will be a real asset to Mitch's game - and Iongi will only get better. For a kid so young he is elite. Future Origin player and Daily M winner... Let's go…"
