Josh Hodgson out with neck injury

Does this bloke have an agenda against Canterbury? Missed two games this year, both against the Bulldogs. Anyway, Hands starts and Moretti onto the bench, i quite like that.

  • Thats good news. Like Moretti

  • I think this just means we need a good start, which, with his superior speed at dummy half, is very possible. Hands is great, but I think having played 80 only once before he could start to lose his batteries at the back end of the game.

    • Russell, penisini and simmonson getting into dummy half for a few runs will help hands last the 80.

  • We looked 100% better with Hands starting.

If Hodgson starts in that one the score would've been closer.

    • Reckon Reed would be the only one that wishes hodgo was out there instead

    • Could be worse , we could have a 650k a year Reed starting 😜.  Pretty funny that Gus is heralded with being the " real " reason for Penriths success and yet he didn't have the foresight to sign Hands for three parts of Jack Shit instead of blowing a few million on Mahoney the little speed bump.

      • Hodgson and Hands cost around  $650.

We could have got Reed for less

        • In what parallel universe does Hodgson and Hands cost 650k ?

          • Hodgson is on about 450.     The biggest waste of money since Watmough

            • Whilst I'll dispute that as the chatter was around the 300 mark for this season , let's assume you're correct. That's 450 for this season, next seaon we have an option , so next year he'll be on a pittance , whilst we'd be into Mahoney for 1.3 million for those two seasons. We will likley be still under 600 for JH and then by year 3 Hodgsons gone and we'd still be into Mahoney for 1.95 million and still only into Hodgson for 600k. AND we've uncovered Hands .Do the maths on Hodgson and Hands over 3 years and then 4 years ( which we'd have had to commit to Mahoney for to keep him ).

And let's not also forget that Hands has openly credited the coaching of Hodgson for his success this season .  So there's obviously a return in that Dept to offset his semi disappointing performances on the paddock, worth noting , he hasn't been anywhere near as bad as some would have us belive , but let's assume he's been totally shit for the sake of the debate.

Wed have had to pay Mahoney for 4 years , we only have to pay full freight for Hodgson for 1 year and next year he's on min wage , so that's only 1.5 years let's say. And Hands is far superior to Weed , and he's on fuck all and we have him until what 2026 ?
