john foulou to the bench

Here's an idea i thought id toss out there to all you learned folk. What do we think about when semi comes back instead of dropping 1 of john or buretta to wenty we play johnny off the bench he could fill in as a edge forward and provide cover for a injury to our backline i think it would help him to continue to develop in 1st grade personally i think he would add more than IDG does in this role. What do you all think does this idea have any merit?

  • No I drop buretta he only score one try and john Folau score 4

    • True but john still has defensive issues on the wing when to jam in when to shift. Buretta's work rate has been great long term i don't think anyone sees john as a winger he will be a center or backrower
  • Folau is not small, 193cm and 112kg, so I don't think he'll be adding to the problem of a 'small bench'.
  • No that's silly . I wouldn't mind folau being in and out the team . Just to blood him in nrl and not burn him out
  • I think he'd struggle with the defensive workload in the forwards and we still have Pauli and Tepai to come back in, both would be better than Folau in that position.

  • I think once Semi is back Bureta will go back to Wenty and Folau will stay.
  • No, sorry, no merit at all. John would be stuffed after one set of defence. Could you imagine him at dummy half? Could you imagine him playing up tempo ? Nope IDG offers more.
  • If Folau is going to be a forward, he is going to have to run harder. Reminds me a bit of Tony Williams when in open field. Close to the line, he is strong but a bit tentative away from this.

  • Way to lazy for forwards
  • No he's a back. You are either  back or a forward in mentality and it actually has little to do with size. Backs are opportunists who are always looking for that big play, forwards have an interest in running into other human beings at pace.
