John Bateman

Tigers are willing to pay $300k of Batemans contract. I'd take him on the cheap, still easily better then lane or Tuilagi.

  • Nope, best form is behind him - definitely a risky signing, he does have some x factor I don't see that position as a priority.Turning 32 next season doesn't make him a attractive signing, 750 for 25/26 sea eagles can have him...

    • He's on $650k,he would costs $350k each year for the 2 season.  He's not 32 till September hardly an argument. If you think your winning a comp with cartwright, lane and Tuilagi your kidding yourself

      • According to zero tackle it's 750k, expectations are not winning a comp next season but building towards that in a few years

      • True but ain't doing it with Bateman either.

  • If he was on 300 or so and willing to take a shorter deal. Absolutely. We need some mongrel and some experience

  • Bateman would go awesome added to the back of our pack, and create some real competition for spots  with Hopgood, Williams, Cartwright, Matterson and Tuilaga.

    • Simple question for Last Place, how do we know what he is on and how much Tigers are prepared to pay ?? The three forwards you mentioned may not be in the starting 13?

  • He's on 750K a year per zero tackle- 450K a year is upper end of what he's worth currently. Not sure if he'd be a good fit with the money we have invested in our back row currently (lane Cartwright and matto all on good money, tuilagi on ok money too).

    • Sorry Parra Supporter but Zero Tackle just guesses as well. I would be surprised if he is on 750k and Tigers are just fiddling. They would/should  be doing everything to get him off the books, assuming he is not reconciling with Marshall.

Your comment re our back row 3 mentioned would be Lane maybe as high as 600k, Matto 650 and Cartwright 350.

Current form means Lane is over paid 250, Matto 150 and Cartwright 50. Of course I would not have a clue either, just best guess.

PS The 750 for Bateman maybe right because it is Tigers, but that is not the point....nobody knows because the numbers are always heresay, i.e. cannot be confirmed, the manager. the player and the club are the only ones that would know, but will they tell the truth? My further guess is that many of the numbers we hear are bullshit because the managers would be the main source and they are never going to underprice their players.

  • Ok

"Yea I like Samrani as a 17 rather than a starting backrower. Tuilagi will probably be selected this week with Guymer back on the bench or cup. Latu needs a couple more games in Cup before being a chance of NRL selection I would think."
