  • When I was a little girl, many moons ago, this was in the early 1950's, I was 6 and my mother asked me to take my younger brother, aged 5, up to the local park,so she could get my sisters ready for school. She dressed him in his uniform, except for his school shirt. He  had a lovely white Bonds singlet on. I took him up to the local park,it was at the end of our street, not far. We had a seesaw and a slide down the slippery dip and then we went onto the swings. My brother decided he wanted to get off,so as the swing was forward,he misjudged and jumped off. I don't know what he caught his tongue on but he split it open. His tongue hanging out of his mouth, blood everywhere, dripping down onto his nice white singlet. I took him home, neighbours came out from their homes because he was crying so loudly. My poor mother nearly fainted and a neighbour rushed him and Mum up to the local hospital. He had about 5 or so stitches and was in considerable pain. Poor kid. I can't remember how long the stitches were in for but it made eating very difficult. So seeing this players tongue, I understand his pain.

    • Haha great story foxy, lucky he had you there, did you cop the blame?

      • No Snake, I didn't get into trouble once I explained that he wanted to get off the swing, not waiting for me to slow his swing down and how he jumped off and landed face first on the ground. What he caught his tongue on I don't know.

        • Is he still round Foxy?

          • No Snake, sadly he's not. He passed away aged 49 from a heart attack.

            • Sorry to hear that Foxy, im sure he would have enjoyed your story. How you been my friend?

              • Thank you for your kind words Snake. I am keeping well and out of trouble. So far, anyway. Take care son and look after yourself too.

                  • Yes Frankie, I realised that long ago. There are not many genuine and caring people in this world so I'm glad I can count Snake as a friend. I appreciate your comment and hope you'll be my friend too. I like your posts. You make a lot of sense with what you say. You call a spade a spade.

                    • Thank you.
