JENNINGS TO RIGHT CENTRE - A MUST

Irrespective whether Hayne moves to fullback on a part time or full time basis we need Jennings to switch sides and defend outside Moses.  We saw last year (and last game) that Moses struggles in defence and but for Jennings switching sides last year Moses's career would have been in a massive hole.  Additionally if French moves to right wing as predicted having Jennings in between Moses and French is an absolute must.  I would go with the following 17 for tomorrow nights game.

1.  Hayne

2.  Auva'a

3.  Hoffman - (as he is a better defender/passer over Auva'a)

4.  Jennings

5.  French

6.  Norman

7.  Moses

8.  Mannah

9.  King

10.  Evans

11.  Ma'u

12.  Moeroa

13.  Brown

14.  Smith - (he was our best last week)

15.  Edwards

16.  Terepo

17.  Alvaro

* Pritchard to start if King not fit.

    • Scott will play tomorrow night and will be given another opportunity by BA.  But if Scott does not keep pace with the flow of the game, like round 1/and late last season, he will be replaced by Vave or Williams in the near future.

I agree that Auva'a is a better centre then winger, but if he plays centre we will have two small wingers returning the ball from our red zone (a big no, no), and he will cut Hoffman out of the game because he doesn't have a passing game.

  • I agree with everything except Hoffman to remain at wing and Auva'a to left centre where he managed to play in a winning grand final team. It makes sense to me.
  • agree- defence is the obvious part but in attack you also need to think of the halves strengths. Norman plays more side ways footy before straightening up- he has a good long pass and his pet play is the cut out flat ball to his winger. The attraction that hayne gains will leave his winger wide open.

Moses plays more straight and direct and his pet play is putting his centre into a hole, Jennings suits this well as he is a natural line runner rather than ball player and we saw this in the back end of last season.

    • If Jennings doesn't move sides tomorrow night Graham will curve up Moses, Auva'a and French, like what he did last year.  Jennings has to move sides to help shut down Graham.

  • Certainly agree with Jennings to right centre but not convinced about Hoffman at centre. Also I like your bench but I believe that BA will have Scott on the bench

    • Scott will play, but if he is rested again I would drop him to Wenty and bring up Vave next week into the 21 man team list.

    • Vave played last week. They were thrashed by Blacktown so no idea how he went
  • Scott for Evans for mine but I do think Terepo needs to be there.
    • Very big call, as we would lose a lot in attack.  It will not be easy to score tries against the Sharks and it will be even harder to dominate the ruck, therefore dropping Evans for Scott would be a massive, massive call.  More likely Scott will be in the 17 in front of Terepo or Matagi.

    • Think that may just happen. Didn't see Evans in the team huddle photo from the captain's run - he's so easy to spot being so tall as well. Saw Terepo, Smith, Kenny& Matagi though - they could be our bench?
