Jennings and Parramatta’s Salary Cap

Does anyone know the Salary Cap rules regarding Michael Jennings being stood down?

If he is suspended for the entirety of next season, does his salary eat away at our cap?

I wonder if the club would be paying him a salary or a percentage of a salary while he has been stood down?

If Parramatta aren’t paying his salary, is he entitled to a back payment if his name is cleared?

Interesting stuff.

  • The club should be able to rip his contract up for the given breach.

Id also think his salary would be added back to our cap but someone who knows more than I about that side of things may comment further.

    • Sensitive subject isn’t it Coryn, it can be looked at a number of different ways.

I don’t think the club would have the legal rights to sack him until the B Sample results came back?

      • Correct if that B sample comes back positive I think the club holds all the cards and a decision will be made.

  • Until he is officially suspended he still counts against our cap

    • Big stain against the Cap if true Brett.

      • Not really, if his B sample comes back positive his cap hold will be credited back to us. The NRL & the clubs would no doubt have a process to follow in this sort of scenario.

  • Can't do anything until the second sample comes back.

    • I think you might be right Brad.

How does it affect the Cap though ?
