Jason Cayless to sign with Eels Post GF ?

This is complete rumour ! But for what it is worthJason Cayless preference would be to rejoin Eels and play one final year with his Brother and play again under DA.Announcement will not be till post GF as a number of players in the current side do not have contracts and no one wants to demotivate them during GF week.Makes some sense given the loss of Big Joe, Latimore, Brod Wright, Lowrie. Yes we pick up Shack and Poore but we are short.Do we keep Weller and Paulo or are they going as well ?

  • Paulo gone to st george. Hopefully resign robson & kingston
    • OK this would add more merit to Jason Cayless coming to the Eels.

      2010 Forward Pack:
Assume Mateo has the 13 and the Keatings share the 9 and 14.

Moi Moi, Cayless, Poore, Mannah, Hindy, Shack, Smith

This is the starting line up. We then have no reserves with the following leaving:

Lowrie, Big Joe, Latimore, Brod Wright, Tautai, Oake, Paulo,
  • I'm no accountant but if Kevin Kingston's $50k worth of match payments put us over next year's cap, then it is illogical to think we could afford anyone else - let alone a former international.
    • Dont disagree but we are well short of a squad of 25 ! With 1 forward injury we are down to Lassalo next year.

Perhaps there is a salary sharing between the Cayless boys. Jason did say in an interview in the UK playing with Nathan and being coached by DA would be a dream come true. Maybe match payments and the promise of a contract in 2011.

I can only think of Weller, Horo and Robinson left from the Wenty line up and Lassalo from the Toyota Cup side
