There are many differing views on this topic. Some say his best position is at 5/8 and others at FB. Personally I believe it is FB. He tends to believe that when he's at 5/8 he has to always come up with a winning play or something brilliant as well as organise the team. That's not what your team needs in a 5/8, teams need a 5/8 who will organise the players the way he wants, a 5/8 who doesn't always think he has to do something spectacular, he just needs a good level head and a decent passing, running and kicking game. Jarryd has played very little football at 5/8 and prefers FB. At FB he doesn't need to be switched on for the entire game, which suits his style. He just needs to chime in when needed. Whilst his ball playing is a good asset to have we now have 2 very capable halves and Haynes most damaging game is his running game. He has the speed of a Slater, the strength and size of a forward and fend of an Inglis. He is exactly what a coach wants in a ball runner. At 5/8 he can't do this because he is marked and watched too closely. At FB he has free rein and can pop up when neccessary. Jarryd has acceleration which is un-matched in the NRL, at FB he can use this to scoot around tired forwards or accelerate onto a Sandow cut-out pass. I'm not saying Jarryd should shelve his passing game, just to use his running game more than he did this season. As Peter Sterling said, until he masters one position he won't be able to master another. http://www.1eyedeel.com/forum/topics/burt-must-be-fullback-and
