Today I court at 2.30 pm for sentencing . For those not overly familiar with the court evidence against Hayne then I think link to this law firm's link : ....................  https://astorlegal.com.au/criminal-lawyer-explains-why-jury-was-discharged-in-jarryd-haynes-sexual-assault-trial/?utm_source=Mondaq&utm_medium=syndication&utm_campaign=LinkedIn-integration    ...................... Jarryd I sincerely do not believe what you did deserves jail time champion....,..,.,...............,,,Journalists have portrayed Hayne as an infamous great sportsmen who will be jailed today , based on Her Honour Judge Symes comments something like " jail is inevitable " at his last court date which was the day when the jury found JH guilty of sexual assault .... I am sad that the victim suffered an injury and the incident has had a lasting impact on her she has said today in a victims impact statement filed today . Haynes lawyer has informed the court that he was about to sign a one year $500k contract with St George before this happened............,...,    . Hayne has previously stated he will appeal the jury decision .  Even so many months in prison before appeal determined awaits him if sentenced today to jail . .....

  • He was an idiot.

    He injured someone

    He was found guilty.

He deserves what the law says is his punishment.

Just another sports star who thinks they are above the rest of us. Im over it and if it is jail I hope he uses the time to become a better person.

      • No, he wasn't charged twice, he was never charged in the US.

      1. You are a hard critic Rider LOL . In order of your paragraphs numbered same sequence :      1) yes ; 2) yes but not seriously and not intentional; 3) Yes ; 4) The law does not set out an exact punishment for a crime but rather a range of sentencing options to the particular judge deciding and applying the law to the crime and the facts surrounding the crime as well as other matters including relevant subjective matters of the guilty person ; and 5) Yes possibly
  • Everyone is innocent unless proven guilty. Its also a known fact that many innocent people have been sent to prison. As none of us know all the facts we have to be careful of accusing anyone regardless of who they are.

    • He's been found guilty, so noone is being accused.

      • There are multitudes of prisoners sitting in prisons who were supposedly found guilty who were actually innocent.

        • Oh Monto, for crying out loud! We do not need to say 'alleged' or 'innocent until proven guilty'. He was found guilty by a jury of his peers. That means, in the eyes of the law, he is guilty!

If you find this definition troubling or difficult, I await your proposal for an alternative to the current criminal justice system!

          • I don't find it puzzling, troubling or difficult one iota B.M. Do you think BM that there are possibly criminals in the past or even currently sitting in prison who were found guilty by a jury of there peers who were actually innocent? I could be mistaken but hasn't history shown that not every 'guilty' person in prison is actually 'guilty'. I don't find it amusing and I'm not going to mock or make fun of person being sent to prison as I'm sure they'll be paying for their crime soon enough.

            • Yes, there are people who have been wrongly found guilty! This isn't such a case. He admitted to the actions committed, but claimed it was consensual. When presented with the evidence, the jury disagreed!

I'm not going to mock him - and I do find it sad that instead of potentially winning a premiership with Parramatta, he chose to take the paths he took!

I know he's one of your Bible bashing buddies, but he is also a convicted sex offender. I, and apparently most on this forum, don't care what silly hypotheticals you want to throw out there to make whatever is your 'point'.

And I also find it roundly contradictory that, on one hand, you imply that he 'might be innocent' and on the other say you're 'sure he'll be paying for his crime soon enough'!

              Which is it?

              • BM he's not and I'm not a 'Bible bashing buddy' and why try and divert the context of this blog too 'religion'? We are not talking about a person's religion but the fact that an ex Eels player and a very good footballer has been sent to prison. Its not a silly hypothetical BM that multitudes of 'innocent' people have been wrongfully imprisoned even though they were found supposedly guilty in a court unless BM you want to rewrite history books. History may also yet prove if this is or isn't a similar case. I'm not contracting myself BM but your as usual attempting to twist things to big note yourself. Oh, that's right your a 'lawyer' aren't you? They're reasonably good at twisting words and sentences. The point I'm making BM is when Hayne goes to prison I have no doubt he will be paying for the crime the court supposedly found him guilty of not me.
