Jarryd Hayne considering playing overseas rugby

Jarryd Hayne considering playing overseas rugbyUpdated Fri at 8:54amJarryd Hayne warms up for Fiji sevens matchPHOTO: Jarryd Hayne says his limits on his next move are no longer restricted to just Australia.Jarryd Hayne will reportedly look at French and Japanese rugby options before considering a shift back to the NRL, preferably with Parramatta. The former NFL player is currently in a pre-Olympics training camp with the Fiji Rugby Sevens side, where he is battling to ensure his spot in the 12-man Rio roster. And Hayne's time on the road has taught him one thing: the limits on his next move are no longer restricted to just Australia."I definitely like being able to travel, seeing the world," he told News Corp."And I realise now with my skill set, it enables me to do that. Gives me a lot of options."I like my red wine, so maybe the south of France. But I also like sushi, so it could be Japan."However, if the 28-year-old does decide to return to the NRL, he maintains Parramatta will still have the first chance to secure his signature."I've always said that, if I'm in a position to come back, then Parramatta would be my first choice," Hayne said."But we'll have to see what happens."Hayne also denied suggestions he had been tapped on the shoulder by San Francisco before his departure from the NFL, but acknowledged he would have taken at least another two years to adapt to the game.AAP

  • Nah he's just playing with the media. Jarryd Hayne will make an announcement when he is ready to. He will not give any satisfaction to an Journo thinking they've got the inside scoop
  • Meanwhile in other news Jarryd Hayne named Ambassador for Fiji Airlines...I honestly can't believe it's taken this long
  • Ha yeah...red wine and sushi at Parra Mall?
  • Better come back to us: has unfinished business
    • It's the sort of sponsorship that will top his pay right up...now for the Fijian partnership of Semi and Jarryd to make a fairytale gf win 17 come true.
Come one Fiji airlines slip Semi a co ambassadorship!!
What an advertisement that would make.
  • Nice one Darkie... Come in handy tackling the unruly too.
  • Like Falou, the Union boofheads would train all the skill out of Hayne. Barge and kick, barge and kick. No passing at the line or in the tackle. Barge and kick. Go to Union and regret it, Monsieur Hayne
  • Personally over his rubbish.  Stop playing games. Piss off and live your life elsewhere and chase your so called dreams or come back.  Make a call and just get on with it instead of the endless branding and publicity games.

    • Totally agree.Go and Princess yourself,Hayne your w*nk.Players come and go.The game will not cease in horror if Hayne or Semi,or SBW or whoever, want to follow their dreams elsewhere.

  • Former NRL and NFL star Jarryd Hayne has been announced as a global ambassador for Fiji’s national carrier Fiji Airways. Supporting the airline’s efforts to promote the tropical paradise of Fiji to its key markets, the appointment sees the current Vodafone Fiji 7s squad member not only act as an ambassador for the airline, but also for the destination that he also calls home. “This is an exciting week for me. I have returned to the country half my family is from. I’m training with the best rugby team in the world, and I’ve been appointed an ambassador for Fiji’s national airline,” said Hayne following the announcement in Nadi. “As it continues to grow and represent Fiji across the globe, the country is very proud of the airline, and I feel honoured to be part of it. Of course, I love this country and its people, so I hope that I can help encourage more people to travel to Fiji, and experience all that it has to offer,” he continued. In his role as ambassador, 28-year-old Hayne will feature on the airline’s promotional material and help promote their network destinations to their relevant markets. The announcement was made today ahead of the airline’s inaugural flight from Fiji to San Francisco.
