  • I thought so too Wyllie , non committal , told them when they repeated a question etc not too emotive . Good job Jarryd

  • I wasnt impressed.

    • Hayne could not discuss the legal matter as anything he said today could be used against him during cross examination in the witness box.  Additionally, you don't want to give away or give a heads up to the other side how you intend on running your case.

From what I have read the issue and 'only' issue for the court will be 'consent' (in simple terms).  The act of intercourse will not be defended and it will come down to whether a verbal or implied consent was given and or whether a withdrawal of consent occurred part way through.  Quantity and levels of intoxication will be important.

The fact that she took his underpants could be interpreted two ways, (1). prior intent to defraud Hayne; or (2). a genuine victim of sexual assault wanting physical and DNA evidence that showed intercourse occurred.

I think the way Hayne handled the press conference was better then average.  Yes, he could have been better, but he could have been a lot worse as well.  He was not aggressive to the repeated questioning and he politely deflected the unwanted questions.

He probably answered too many questions on the legal case as I would have encouraged him to say even less.  But it is done now, we all can move on.

    • Possible.  Delayed reporting will not assist her case.  But negligence is a very low threshold and hard to defend.

      • He was not at all aggressive and that impressed me. I wish he had continued on his own tangent and just talked like a soliloquy about all he loved at parra and what he was looking forward to and pissed all the journos off lol

  • Dave, good to see you posting mate, youve been missed.

    • Hi mate, I needed to have a break in the off season.  I've been trying to say away from the non footy blogs but I thought I could do a quick response for this.

I'm looking forward to the season and I hope to go to the Newcastle trial (all 5 grades) in Maitland next month.

      Top 4 here we come!

  • My calculations strongly indicate that No way, was Hayne being smug, Snake and my calculations are very seldom incorrect as you well know.

  • if she wanted DNA she stated that she woke on blood soaked sheets If he did indeed rape her, his & her DNA would be on the sheets. not a pair of skidmarked undies
