  • Yep.  Looks like we dodged a bullet. I remember when he was with our 20's a couple of seasons back when he was around 17 years old.  The whole Para squad broke for Christmas and they celebrated with a harbour cruise.  Young Hoppa was enjoying the night and throwing down the beers with the best of them.

Unfortunately he started to get a bit mouthy and loud so two of the leaders in the NYC team pulled him aside and had a quite word in his ear.  He settled down after that but it was noticed back then that he got a bit silly on the grog.

In 2012 he got done for DUI and was sacked by Para for leaving an NYC Rookie camp and meeting up with mates to go drinking.

I'm told he is a charming fellow when sober but when he is drinking he becomes a grog monster.

Hopefully he will become a better person after his stint in the big house because he has some good footy skills to forge a career in the NRL.

    • Maybe we'll pick him up down the track as a guy looking for a shot at redemption

  • What a tool
  • A stint in jail?? Parras the club for the redemption contract! Crooks, wicks, mau, Edwards, train in a old gaol.....Personally tho if will offers as much as he did this yr then I hope he's gone by end of next yr - total waste of cap so far!
    • And sign Craig Field.
  • Geez it's annoying how journalists use the word 'star' when reporting about these idiots for example this week alone things have been written in articles like NRL star Greg Bird, former NRL star Craig Field, rising NRL star Jamil Hopoate. They are not 'stars', players do make mistakes and some come under notice of the law but they are not a real good advertisement for the NRL or young fans of the game if they are being reported in the media for their misdemeanours and crimes so how can they be a 'star'. 'Stars' don't do what these clowns do. It's only a minor issue but it's a gripe I have about print media.

    • I agree. anyone who has merely kicked a footy, regardless of whether they even played first grade is a 'star' apparently. Especially when said 'star' has broken the law.

  • The recruitment at Parra has been laughed at for years but geez we make some GOOD decisions.

MK and KK are another couple. Wright, Reddy and Inu etc.

  • I think we should also ask how is Will handling this at present, I've got no doubt it would be having some sort of impact. There are no winners out of a situation like this.

  • He's not that bad Fongy and by the looks of it the only OK Hopoate. Must be the influence from that guy known as "Jesus"

"Pezet had 3 runs, 5 kicks, 2 errors, and 3 try assists. Let's be frank, two of his try assists were fluke kick/regather efforts by others and his try a fluke kick/regather by himself. Ryles played possum about what he has to work on in the press…"

Expecting both to get better as the season goes on . Game is too quick for the best of middles at the moment . "
