Respectfully .. Why?
If one of our backs got covid or woke up ill ( which is why a 19th man is named ) Dylan Brown would be back at centre and Jake in the halves . BA thought he was slick when he repeatedly said " I only have 19 players in our squad to pick from " but now it's not the case (it never was ) . Perham should always be used as the utility and in any emergency cover situations given he can play 1-5, 6-7 and 14 . It causes the least disruption to the side and he's a better option any way .
It may seem like nothing and isn't intended as another Jake pile on. BA has no excuse. He now only has 23 players to pick from and Jake is still the utility in the squad it seems.

Why? It's not a fair question that can be asked without a pile on?
Sez the nuclear reactor
It was very light. Good to see you're back Jack.
Sorry I forgot to say hi..... HiJack!
Ha. Spot on.
Fair question methinks!
Or Cartwright is cover for all options and Jake just the halves cover if needed
For starters if Dylan Brown got sick Perham can play 6 and is more a like for like swap with DB than Arthur is.
Perham can also cover Gutho, both wingers/centres , a bench spot and at an absolute pinch could play a little 9. JA is cover only for Moses. He covers 1 player in the squad. If in the unlikely event we lost Moses on match eve do you not think DB and Perham could do a job for a week? BA has to be more accountable for his dumb selections that contribute to our inconsistency.
No, playing Jake in the halves has contributed to our inconsistency both in 2021 and 2022. Theres no need for him to be 19th man in our squad as he covers 1 player and heaven forbid if we needed him to come in on game day our whole side will suffer a big disruption. Perham coming in wouldnt be ideal but causes far less disruption and is a far better option.
Like I said, its a small thing at the moment because we havent needed to activate the 19th man.. but it also signals BA still thinks putting Jake in the halves and DB in the backs is a better emergency option than slotting Perham in somewhere which is ridiculous. His whole 'i have no other option' is a load of BS. It's the option hes chosing. Perham is the definition of utility. Perham has played wing in first grade, is named at centre in reggies tomorrow, has played fullback this year and came through as a 6. I know youre super defensive about this and think its an attack, but can you tell me how it makes any sense? Jake should be sent down to NSW Cup and given the keys to the side for the rest of this season at the very least. He shouldnt be floating in and out of the NRL game day squad unless the halves are in dire straights.
Agree that Perham is a far better option
