Jahmal Idris

I was just wondering if Idris has retired or is he just taking a break from the game. Idris has always shown huge potential, but failed to live up to the expectations . If he could be enticed to return to the game in 2016 on a one year incentive based contract ( with strict conditions) I think he may add something to the Parramatta back line. A one year deal would mean we don't need to close any doors on options for 2017 and If he fails then there is not too much damage. Would Penrith have to pay some of his contract? If not, how were they able to release him without it impacting on their cap for 2016. I have heard others say that he lives in the area and after a short break he may realise that rugby league provides him with the opportunity to set himself up for life. I think the Eels would be a feat fit for Idris, whether he is what we need is certainly debatable, but i think he could be a value buy at $250000 for the season with incentives. He would add some more experience and another option/foil for Foran.

  • Should have read 'great fit' not 'feat fit' big thumbs and iPad.
  • Yer not a fan Ian, Idris is a dope and we dont need any more players with mental and motivational problems, i think jahmal is a bit like Chrissie Sandow with half the talent.

I do agree we would be a good fit but a good fit for all the wrong reasons

  • I would love to see Parra give him a chance for 1 season @ 250k.

He offers more than any other for right centre that we have on the books with proven ability and would also add depth to the squad.

I do not require any other information from super coaches to tell me what to do with my opinions.

  • Idris at his best is very good but he has issues with depression and drinking and he simply doesnt love playing at a first grade level.
He wants to play bush footy and get away from the spotlight
    • So would you be happy with Walker ??

Who has talent but takes drugs and nearly kills himself.

The answer would be 99% in favour of buying Walker.

If you are a club you ware buying a player for his talents on the field first.

Everything else can be managed happy wife happy life "same senario"

  • Hi Ian,

I like your style mate and most EEL'S supporters would agree with you and I speak on behalf of the majority not the minority.

Just remember this site is not the majority its the minority. In fact I would go as far as state that most members on this site do not even have memberships or attend games more than 2 times a year.

What would they know about  our club. They prefer to talk Gibberish. Dont even entertain them in your blog with responses.

  • Fongie you may be right, i definitely have some head noises and motivation can be a problem. I am sure all those great sales motivational seminars keep you up to speed ( yuk). On the Idris idea note: I did say at $250000 on a one year deal with conditions. As far as speed goes we certainly do need to work on this aspect of the team hence Cuthbertson , Shultz and Morgan. At $250 g you could use Idris as depth e.g injury to Takarangi or ball playing forward.
  • What about brief stints in the front row?
  • Lefty. You dont need to speak for me mate. I say no to Idris. Just too may problems. Cant remember what year it was but when he moved to the 2nd row for the dogs he really stood out for mine. But not now. He needs an attitude adjustment.
  • No!
