I've noticed this the past few weeks and it's annoying me.
If Salmon is a back up half, then why is he playing centre for Wenty? It makes no sense. How is he to develop play- making skills is he has to wait to get the ball?
If either DBrown or Mitch fall to injury or suspension how will he be prepared to help as a half when he's not even playing there for Wenty? This doesn't add up.

The very simple answer is the coach sees him as a centre not a half. IMO they are correct. He could develop into a very good centre.
Don't tell me that useless Will Smith will come in if either Mitch or Dylan go down? We're proper screwed in that instance.
Probably more likely will be Gutho and Fergo or Hoffman to fullback.
I'd defo prefer Gutho at half and Fergo to FB. Can't stand seeing either Smith or Hoffman as starters. NSW Cup players they are. Peaked and on the down.
If anything I see him being a good backrower. Salmon probably wants to play centre that’s why he’s there too.
Well he trained all off season at centre he hasn't shown himself to be a natural 5/8 i think we should look at who will be our back ups next year worth picking up a experienced back up
He is not considered good enough to be a half and is seen as a centre. He still needs huge improvements to become a first grader even at centre. Simple as that. The club is very light on for back up halves, and hopefully they fix that for next year.
They probably see him as more of a centre but let's face it, if a centre went down Taka, Hoff and Parry probably come in ahead of him in that position. But if a half was needed you'd still think salmon would come in ahead of will smith or I guess moving Gutherson to five/eighth. The gutho option is possible with fergo at 1 and Taka back onto the wing, but it seems like an odd option to move so many around at this stage. Long story short, you are right Salmon should be playing five/eighth in case needed for first grade.
