Jack would be proud of our Girls

Jack Gibson would be impressed by our NRLW team the way they're playing so defensively strong and refusing to allow a breach in their line.  I'm impressed as well.  Steve Georgallis may have had kennel origins but he has surpassed my expectations as a coach and credit is due for bonding this squad into one with a great culture. They're a pleasure to see! And with 1 round to go we're still in it to make the finals. For those who havent seen our girls show their stuff lately, tune in, they're a fine outfit.

  • They're great to watch. So much heart. Try saver after try saver. They lost their way in the second half and couldn't complete a set. If they fix that they'll be hard to beat.

    • You're right Mutt and even our half Rachael Pearson, who in my mind lost a little cred in Origin has surprised with her defensive efforts and has obviously watched a little of Dylan.

      • Rachel flipped the field twice with those massive 40/30s. Even more impressive has been how the side has responded following the season ending injuries to the Cherrington sisters.

        • Yeah Super those 40/30's were terrific and all of her long kicks against the wind particularly when she kept them low were tremendous for the team. She's always been a smart 7.

          • Also, forgot the Cherringtons, it looked bleak when we lost them.

  • Dare I say it with one must win game to play, but this squad seems much more balanced than their grand final side from 2022.

That side was heavily reliant on some brilliance from Gayle Broughton and the fact they won 1 regular season game to squeak into the finals meant they were completely unexpected.

This season they have been more consistent even accounting for that terrible match against the Dragons and have bounced back from a couple of season ending injuries. Mahalia Murphy has been great in the backrow while Abbi Church is challenging for the Dally M. Rory Owen too has become an absolute weapon while Rachel Pearson has calmly guided the side around.

The defensive resilience from this side is super impressive given their short pre-season. They could teach the men a thing or two about winning when you're on the backfoot.

    • What can I add to that Knowlegable summary Super you've covered it all as you've been watching!

  • Loved watching them passing the ball in goal and getting out of the Red zone and not taking the safe option - the girls are well coached.

    • It was fun watching that play in goal Mick, and it was a decisive one. Steve's done a great job with our girls and the results are showing. Big match next week.

      • Agree RJ, up against the Roosters next week that would be a big upset if the girls get up. Nice blog.

"Agree Mutts, lacks a bit of that speed and agility to be great at Wing and Center.
If he continue's his defensive work he could be an agile edge, but would probably be a backup at best."

"I think they will partner up JAC and Kelly for the next 2 years and get that combination humming.
The right is isn't as clear, but it really depends on how bad Simonnson's ankle is. I would expect Penisini and Simmon to lock down the right for most…"
