In all due respect we should be making a massive play for Tapine from Canberra instead of Bird. Tapine is off contract 2023. Also we should make a play for Tesi Nui from Brisbane off contract in 2023. I think Penisini and Nui in the centres would be pretty good?
I'd throw Briton Nikora from the Sharks on that list as well.

What I find puzzling is that if we can afford to throw this money at Jack Bird, why didn't we offer it to Papalii in the first place? I do love the mongrel the Bird would bring to the team, but he is a risk if we deem that $500k is our ceiling for Second Rowers...

He is asking $650k pa x 3 years we could of kept Papalii for way less.
I think he can play lock or edge in the forwards - we have Matto and Carty who have played at 5/8 - he has played effectively in the centres you would not play him at fullback anymore - so he adds a bit cover around centre while playing in the forwards - i think the premium is to high
bird would be a great buy for around 500 a year. His a premiership winner. He can play centre and back rower, cover 5/8 and lock
