ITS TIME FOR NEW DEBUTANTS

If not last week the season is gone now.  Therefore, we need to start looking at who is suitable for the top 17 for next year and as a result the following players need a go in the next 2 to 4 weeks.

- Marata Niukore
- Ray Stone
- Reed Mahoney
- Dane Aukafolau
- Greg Leleisiuao
- Jaeman Salmon

  • If we can we should at least trial them.
  • Yea right Dave

The last debutant forward was in 2015.
    Back 2016

Your kidding if you think ba will give the blokes a go and risk his job, because that's what it's all about for him
    • I agree BA is reluctant to debut new guys.  BA will not be coach next year, therefore it can't make things worse trialling some of the new guys.  New young guys might bring the energy needed.

Maybe the board need to step him and make BA start selecting the young guys.

    • Trialing new blood might be what saves him
      • I agree.  If he continues with the older guys with poor results then it is goodbye BA.

  • Agree that changes are now essential, problem is how many of those players are actually able to play NRL, a couple are in the development squad which may prevent them but I have no idea how that works.  Stone, Marata are likely able to be able to go up not sure of the others though.

    • To be completely honest, none of them may be ready.  But if we don't try we will never know.

      - Greg L should be in the team in front of George Jennings.

      - Stone should be on the bench.

      - Mahoney should be trialled.

      - If Niukore doesn't get a chance soon he should be cut.

      • I have to admit to being totally numb.  I knew the game had live updates, but did not even want to sit downa & follow that, in fact I had no real feelings regarding the match one way or another, & while I picked them to win I guess the only reason was that I am an eels supporter through thick and thin, good and bad.

Thing is though despite all of this I am not angry as many here might well be and little doubt for good reason. One thing that I wont do is go on the anti BA tirade band wagon.  Reason simply is, its the 17 that run on to the field that are the problem, they are the ones giving away the penalties, missing tackles, making poor decisions, and playing as if they either don't care or not interested at all. So not am I just numb, I don't feel angry but I certainly feel a lot of sadness/sorrow, but I'm blowed if I am going to slit my wrists or the like or go out on a head bashing episode against a brick wall.

If anything positive is to really come out of the game is that Guth got through ok. Bev, seemed hardly to be in mentioning table but he needs some confidence boost I think, same as them all.

As for going forward, there is no doubt in my mind that real team changes have to be made. Unfortunately we don't have much experience in Wenty to really look to this year with, but what alternatives are there in this area if the season is not going to be a total write off?

If BA can get an ok to bring up some untried players then he seriously needs to do so, in fact he needs to make a public statement in some respects similar to what RS did a couple of weeks back and actually say that there will be changes in the team. He needs to make some drastic ones as well. As mentioned I have no idea how they played so have to go with my instinct as to changes.

With Tepi getting another head knock and early shower (only bit I have picked up on) he needs to be rested for a while so he can recover properly and while it may only help him a git, but maybe time for him to wear headgear once he's back.

        Without thinking of next year.

Players such as Evans, and Scott need to be back in Wenty to get form, possibly the same with Trex, more an Iguana methinks.   That means at least 3 changes, but I think Terep and Edwards may be looking at another coloured shirt for next week.

I agree that the players named by BD should be lifted up, at the expense of Auva'a, and George Jennings, French to work alongside with MJ and both to the right side of the field. Grel L and Dan Aka on the other side. Greg though is returning from Injury next week but would provide some good work from there and has been named next to Dan in ISP.

Marata to 2nd row, and Stone at lock with Mahoney at 9.

  • Yep... we're pretty much at the point of now using this season to prepare for and make some decisions about next season.

  • New debutants, what as opposed to old debutants? Idiot
