Watching today's game was very interesting. The Titans of late have been looking pretty good and have been quite a cohesive unit. With Hayne there today everything changed. He seemed to be playing in a few positions in the backline and the Titans weren't really sure what was going on. His passing and running wasn't really a feature - but he looked very good defensively and in the air. Whenever he had the ball, though, no one seemed to be sure of what was going to happen next. This made it hard for the Titans to build into a play (or phase of plays). To add to this - Hayne was trying to get busy by jumping in and demanding the ball at important times. While he has that potential for brilliance - it might just work against them this season as their cohesion might go backwards and take too long to recover. I think they have lost their momentum at a vital part of the year.

  • Hayne played very well today.  He will probably stay at 5/8 until Roberts returns from injury and then move to fullback.  He value added to the Gold Coast today and will only improve when he match fitness improves.  If Hayne didn't play today the Titans would have been smashed.

    • Hey, FEKK Hayne. He is no longer an Eel. Move on everyone.  Stuff him and stop it. Focus on our team, which Hayne is not part of. Read between the lines of BAs interview re Hayne.  3320827851?profile=original

    • Have to disagree Dave and I agree with skipper. They will become a one man team now because of Hayne just like we were for so many years. They would of been alot better off if they had played the exact same way they have been for the last month but they just sat back waiting for Hayne to do something.
    • His ref touching incident should see him rubbed out next round. The contact was far worse than the Frizzell incident.
    • Strongly disagree. If Hayne wasn't there warriors win. There was too much hype for that game and they caved.
    • T-Rex Warriors did win champ.
    • Hayne,s intercepted pass really help,d the Titans chances of winning didn't it Lol
  • A young half in Taylor would have found it a lot easier to come into grade directing mostly journeymen around the park. Enter a two time dally M winner and one of if not the best player of a generation and it's easy to see how a young blokes confidence in his game could suffer when your no Longer cock of the walk. It's going to be interesting to watch the dynamic of the Titans evolve. Will Peats, Hayne and Taylor be able to get on the same page. I've noticed the last couple of weeks Peats override Taylor and take an option himself which offered no result at the consternation of the half. Hayne did the same today.Suddenly a team that played cohesively all season looks disjointed in parts. Nothing a Long off season and some home truths can't fix.
    • Interestingly, reading Peats comments posted in 1eyed's blog today, he pretty much agrees with your above comment to a tee, Bup..
  • Yeh taylor didn't look very comfortable with Hayne in the halves with him. Henry should have played him in the centres and got him one on one with defenders. He had a decent game back but that intercept he threw was the game changer.
