  • He was never leaving, loves playing under BA, and Manly couldn’t afford him or give him his preferred position.

    • Yes he was. He admits it was "close" and the reason he stayed was that BA offered him the FB position.

Anyway, water under the bridge now.

I feel he still hasnt reached his 2017 form this year.

  • He might have resigned and be playing fullback BUT his last few games have been low par, in my opinion. He needs to find some good form coming into finals.

    • Agree Monto, I hope he’s carrying an injury .. because if he’s not then you’ve got to wonder whether our captain is putting his body on the line, particularly on kick returns

    • Thought he was one of our best against the Sea Eagles & Warriors and was solid against the Dragons.

    • He was the only thing hindering us in attack last week

    • You think? Thought the opposite, in the last couple of weeks we’ve seen the true Gutho stand up again.Without Gutho’s energy v Warriors there’s no way we win that one.

  • Well if we can attract players from beach suburbs like Gutho’s  Manly peninsula as his home area is seen in that interview then what next , could it be Bondi Sydney Roosters best players will soon be queuing up outside Eels club to sign up Lol .

  • Guth played so much better prior to an agreement being reached than he has since. I'm not suggesting he is tanking because his effort cannot really be questioned. He always tries hard.

However,  perhaps the whole ordeal drained him somewhat and he is taking some time to return to form...He has picked up the last few weeks but is no where near his pre-agreement form.

  • Put a sour taste in my mouth way he handled it. Not worth 750 what ever we are paying him
