It's Time To Lift Our Standards

Lately I have been upset and even ashamed of my club, but almost insanely, I still have hope. It's hard to give up on a team that's been part of my life since I was old enough to cheer and speak and say "yellow".-The Auckland 9s win -they can strip it all they want, we had no advantage over any other team and we earned the championship.-Harold Matthews boys are the National Champions.-Brad Arthur is an excellent leader and his staff are professionals-Many of the boys I have recently met -esp. the Wenty Boys like Toutai are polite, well spoken young men, not all are wannabee gangsters.-We have some really promising young players in the NYC -like Bevan-Our 1st Graders had shown so much promise earlier this year, which regardless of the dramas, bodes well for the future.-Many of our boys are tough, uncompromising, with a few yet to hit their peak.-People still continue to support the Eels (many are on here) and will return in droves should the Club become successful again.-My mate's newborn babe has his baby Eels jersey and will be raised as such, regardless. People still bought Eels gear at the last Pirtek game.However, while it seems like I'm clutching at straws to find positives, I don't think that I have lowered my expectations. I have lifted them.Parra now has a chance to fix the front office, so that a future premiership is not just a promise or a hope for the future. I would never have wanted a Premiership tainted with salary cap issues -to be stripped like the Storm's. Even a spoon is better than that. Now if we weren't found out now, the 'leakers' would have done it later, anyway. That would have broken my resolve, possibly forever. So I don't think all is lost. The good news is that things can and will be fixed. We just have to lift our standards and expect that the club does too, otherwise there will never be a "next year".

Ashamed to be an eels fan??? Wow! as GG would say.

I am in no way ashamed to be an eels supporter as well as a fan, a fan can be turned on to provide circulating cool air for the summer or reversed in order to draw colder air up & distribute the warmer higher air as well. Or it can be left off without doing a darn thing & just collect dust on the top of the fan blades.

A supporter OTOH, is there standing strong, through all the seasons, & everything in between.

Disappointed in what has & is going on? You bet your sweet bippy I am but its not going to stop my support of the team & club overall. In fact I see what has happened as possibly being the best thing that has happened to the club since way back when the emperor first came in & worked towards getting us the premiership 4 times. His last few well it was crap & will be found that way for ever.

We now have a chance to rid the malice from the club, with a full new board & leadership in the front office, its working on the field & I will be there with the team more so in spirit than bodily but I wont give up on them & never be embarrassed in being a supporter of the eels. I will boo them though when they need it but I long to see that never happening again as well.

The only thing that has shamed me is the p*ssweak defeatism of some Parra fans,Our board has been shifty and has been caught out.We the fans are innocent,Yet the attitude of some has been," Oh no! Parra has been bad,pull our pants down,gag us, bend us over and f*ck us hard in the arse,just like Marcellus Wallace in pulp Fiction".Seriously people?Grow some balls and tell the NRL to get Greenturd to smear KY Jelly on that ugly chrome-dome of his and go f*ck himself.The punishment should fit the crime,not be excessive.We won 2 spoons ffs,Melbourne and the Dogs won premierships.

The "we deserve everything they dish out to us" attitude is laughable.I know we have a lot of god-botherers on this site but this Old Testament style wearing sackcloth,ashes and scourging ourselves,has got to stop.I don't think Sharks,Storm or Bulldog fans were ever so hard on themselves
