Isaiah iongi

The Parramatta Eels are delighted to announce that Isaiah Iongi has signed a three-year deal with the club.

The 21-year-old will join the Eels for the 2025 NRL season and remain at the club until at least the end of 2027.

Parramatta Eels General Manager of Football Mark O’Neill said, “Isaiah is a talented player with a promising future, he will be a wonderful addition to our backline next season."

"We look forward to welcoming him and his family at our Club in the coming months," O'Neill added.

Iongi made his impressive NRL debut in Round 22 recording 257 running metres and eight tackle busts from the fullback position.

He was the 2023 NSW Cup Fullback of the Year, a U19s QLD Maroons representative, and the 2022 Panthers Jersey Flegg Cup Player of the Year.

Out of respect to his current club, Eels will not make further comment at this stage.

  • Great signing. Much better than Blaize T

    • Massive signing IMO. Iongi was the NSW Cup fullback of the year, last year. Losing Blaize is a blessing in disguise. Iongi is a much more natural long term fullback solution than Blaize.

    • Agreed

  • Finally, some positive news.

  • Good get for the club and new coach quality fullback on the rise

  • I'm waiting for the 600 articles in the media on how the Panthers lost a superstar junior to their rivals. Hooper are you there?

    • I'm sure there will be a few articles about how the (potential) four-peat Panthers wanted him gone and tricked Parra into signing him.

      • The next kid up for penrith is a great talent already as well. Will step right into the FB role in nsw cup no problem at all. Crazy the talent they have, we should be raiding hard on their juniors.

    • Nah mate, the article will downplay this signing and say PARRA only went after Iongi as a retaliation for losing Blaize to them and how Panthers won this exchange.

"It's why freight is commonplace, and often a win-win. RCG & Waqa moved to the Eels after Ivan Cleary returned to the Panthers in 2019 (Gus gone). Despite being in contract, they were subsequently offloaded with freight paid for by the Panthers."
