Is Transgender Heading to NRL

Paul Kent: Transgender athlete debate set to impact NRLW competition

The NRLW is on the cusp of being thrust into the debate over transgender athletes competing in its league, and it’s far more complicated than what other sports face.

  • BWAHAHA! love it, hope this happens just for the total shit show it will cause.

I want to see some real big lads get in the womans game.

    • It would certainly make for an interesting viewing and some heated discussion which would be great for a laugh

    • RCG decides that he prefers to be regarded as a woman and enters the NRLW....

  • Imagine if Greenberg was still CEO, he'd absolutely love welcoming trans-women to the NRLW. Then he'd be uncontactable and unavailable for comment when 6ft 3" 110kg, ex country rugby league player Terri Manson scores 15 tries on debut and sends three 60kg girls to hospital.
It's going to be a PR nightmare for the NRL.
If they simply say No to trans players it would go global and the NRL would be a pariah sport.
If they allow it, RL fans would be outraged not to mention the physical carnage it would cause.

I agree with Kent, they simply need to set the bar really, really high in terms of medical clearance eg 5 years since transition, certain levels of surgery, testosterone levels etc. If they do that I doubt many would even try especially considering they would no longer have the very obvious physical advantages (which clearly is a motivation for many)

    • Muttman agreed Mutt or they need to have some 'balls' and say to any transsexuals that they have their own comp. I'd be telling them to buzz off and start their own comp. Girls born girls yes and no to the others. It's simple.

    •  It even then Mutt, they never truly lose their advantage. Their bone structures would simply still be far too strong for genetic women.

  • What does he mean it's set to impact, it's started with Elsie Albert from St George

"Thanks NOS, I haven't reached your par excellence yet but incisively in your comments you make reference to our defence in 23/24. I agree with you, maybe even better than 22, its just the errors that let us down and they are part of the inexperience…"
