That's the rumour going around atm. There was talk from certain sections of the media that Payten and the Cows have not seen eye to eye for a while, and Carayannis mentioned that a Moses managed coach could come into the mix as Parramatta’s next coach.

All I know is that there are strong rumours going around that Payten may be on the Eels hit list.

As I've said previously,  I find it very strange that nobody saw the bushie being axed before mid season and with another season on his deal. Why would we be chasing a rookie with alomost two years on ba's deal ?   That would make little sense .  There would be little incentive to chase a rookie coach very early in the season as they would be in low demand.

Chasing an experienced coach would make more sense.   Bennett may have only been  a smokescreen as nearly everyone knew his association with the Gladiator. That's the rumour anyway

  • I wouldn't be against this and those of you that are about to bring up that the cowboys haven't done great of late they still haven't had a bye yet and they play something like 6 of the last 9 at home. I will be surprised if they don't finish in the top 8.

  • It's still be a step sideways if not backwards. Payten had a bit of a honeymoon period and has pretty much run out of ideas since . He still better than what we've got to pick from if you go by the media's lineup of applicants . Couldn't see the club thinking he was worthwhile punting and paying out Arthur early for , if that's the question !

Wouldn't say no as we are looking at options like Barrett and Ryles ,  but to date his record ain't all that convincing.

    • Just quietly cowboys only 2 points out of the 8 with 0 byes. Hes done a solid job with them this season but that team is loaded with talent as well. Does seem like some of the players don't see eye to eye with him but i think cowboys will be in the 8

      • He has heaps of talent . No excuses for being outside the 8.  I never said he was shit , just saying you wouldn't say he's a world beater in comparison to what we had.  If we were sitting in 9th at the moment with a team like his there would be calls to sack BA .

        • Yeah 6-7 origin players, something is a little off with them. They have a wide gap between worst bad best performance

          • I'd kill for us to have that lineup. I think swapping coaches would work out much better for them than us. Not because I think Arthur's a messiah , just because I reckon he has more to offer that team than Old mate does, but I think Payton would struggle with an old bunch of " powerful " egos .

  • Would solve his Taumololo salary cap headache by walking away. That's a big albatross around their neck for the next few seasons, unless he gets medically retired anyways.

  • Hannay is a certainty

  • Let's be clear, Bennett was never a smokescreen. After 10 years, they had finally realised BA wasn't going to be the messiah that breaks the drought. They sacked him and went all in on Bennett, and failed. The mob running the joint are bean counters, they are not capable of running a 'smoke screen'.

  • Yeah again I come back to the club here - if these rumours are close then it's again the club NOT going for the best there is. Bellamy type is what we need.
We've an aging pack; our attack was slow and looked disorganised first half. Easts on other hand looked slick aven late in second half they knew where they were going.
What concerns me also is the lack of punch we have with the ball - forward play is predictable all round

    And let's not mention defence
