Is the Judiciary Too Soft?

Tonight Matt Prior, after being directly referred to the judiciary, was given just a 5 week suspension for his elbow on Jonathan Thurston. The judiciary panel said that Prior was focussed on Thurston when making this tackle. Prior made no attempt to stop or lower his arm. On seeing replays it almost looks as if the hit was deliberate. In that case it should've been a 9 week suspension. They harp on about player safety but when a player is knocked unconscious by a deliberate elbow the guy only cops 5 weeks. The judiciary needs to get tougher IMO if they want to prevent these incidents from re-occuring.

  • The game is soft, any tackle near the head is penalised. The game 30 years ago was brutal and an illegal incident was only reported if it happened right in front of the referee.
