IS TAKAIRANGI OUR SAVIOUR

Well, I got a bit excited on Tuesday afternoon when I saw Taka's name at left centre inside Semi.  Yep, excited, had a twinge!  As we know prior to Jennings we had our own version of Rapana and Leilua on the left edge and it was very successful.  Taka had more try assists then any other centre and Semi was the leading winger by a mile.  Jennings joins the team and both the form of Semi and Taka drop.

With the injury to Jennings this combo is once again reunited.  Therefore, is Taka our saviour?  Is Taka on a decline, is Taka now too slow, is Taka not 100% fit?  Can Taka be the ball playing centre Semi is craving for?

  • I think we see a massive improvement.... they just click perfectly. I mean a massive improvement in the whole team. Teams and players dont forget deadly combos and Souths will be very aware tonight. This could also rekindle more of tje love Semi has for us and really help seal his return playing with Taka for the next month
    • Well said.

  • If we don't aim up in the forwards it wont matter. Brown is a big loss.
In my opinion we need Scott out there for as long as possible

Kirosome A'avaa needs a big game against his old club. Some of his defensive decisions last week were terrible.

One thing for sure is Mitch Moses will be better for the extra week at training.

    • You are right.  Forwards win matches the backs determine by how much.  Its an old saying but very, very true.  Our weakness this year is our forwards and our go forward and ruck speed is not good enough.  Brown is a massive loss.  In my opinion Vave has to start tonight against the Rabbits big pack.  All three Burgess boys are back.  Its no good bringing Vave on later in the game if it is over after 25 minutes.

Our halves and fullback struggled in attack last week and ran sideways far too much.  I wouldn't think they be running sideways again tonight, therefore, that in its self will be a big improvement.

Scott had one of his better running games last week and he may be over his ankle issues.

We need Moses short kicking game to improve and we do not want to give any 7 tackle restarts to the Bunnies tonight.

  • Taka is up and down this season, but on his day, he can definitely serve it up.

The problem with Jennings is that he is Jennings and the opposition defense will automatically turn on shut down mode.

Taka is mostly underrated so i think if he's on then we'll see a few tries down his side!

  • No, hes gone backwards, hes been very slow with his lateral defence and is a liability in that dept imo.

Theres a lot to like about him but i wouldnt think hed be our saviour Dave, youre only as good as your biggest weakness.

    • I mentioned a few weeks ago that I thought he was carrying a few more kgs this year as his pace and acceleration is down.

  • If Taka is our saviour I don't wanna be saved .
    • Lol.

  • Very poor defensively , to slow to keep up in centres .

"Yes but it's no secret we were pursuing him first.  Hence my point, he had no aspirations to play for us whatsoever.  Whilst I'm not against the signing ( any signing is a positive when our recruitment are fucking morons ) , I'm sick of hearing this…"

"Great stuff. JAC's contract has been handled perfectly. A one year plus club option to see how he'd perform. JAC played exceptionally well and now we give him 2 more years. Well played everyone. "
