Is Hindmarsh the new Mario Fenech?

I'd like to start by saying that I think Nathan Hindmarsh is one of our best ever players. I supported him not only because of his style of play but because of his attitude and the kind of person he was. I was gutted when he retired, especially in such a bad team and with no Grand Final glory.I hoped he would take on an important role within the club or NRL. At the very least I wanted to see him in a respected role within the media. Now that he is in the media my cause for concern is whether that role is respectable.I do find his role on the Matty Johns show and his partnership with Fletcher hilarious, however it will soon turn stale. Hindmarsh is basically employed to make a fool of himself on T.V. He is not their for his opinion or stature. He is there to cop the brunt of jokes directed at the Eels and to be the recipiant of pranks.Regardless of how humorous I do find this, I see the respect he built up through his career now in jeopardy. The tough, resilient leader we cheered for is now turning into a clown. He is being used like Mario Fenech was on the Footy Show to add humour to a show at the expense of his own integrity.I look forward to hearing what you all feel on this.

I really don't think Hindy or Fenech are that concerned about public perception or whether they're portrayed as the clown or not, both gentlemen still carry important roles in the NRL and are getting payed for it, I fact I'd go as far as saying that Fenech's post footy career is going better then the footy show itself

I agree sticks he is losing that respect that he built up over so many years as a player very quickly. Worst of all he is coming across as a complete dope who could play but has no clue how to commentate or read the game. It's sad because he was a hero to so many people and the new generation will only know him as that dickhead everyone makes fun of on the Matty johns show.... sad very sad.

People can be far too serious. It is pretty evident he likes clowning around and is getting paid to do it. Anyone with half a brain would still respect what he has to say about league itself as he showed on the field he was a true champion. Just because someone likes giving everyone a bit of a laugh doesn't make them stupid.

  Fair enough, just looks like that kid back at school that used to act stupid so people would laugh and respect him. Laugh they did, respect him they didnt. You know the guy, there was one in every form. Most changed though when they realised people only wanted them around as long as they provided that value. Hope this dosnt turn into Hindy.
