Mitchell Moses’ reputation is taking a hit over the “frustrating” ongoing delay on his 2024 contract call, according to veteran Daily Telegraph reporter Phil Rothfield.
Moses’ future is still yet to be officially decided, despite reports last week he was poised to sign a new deal with the Eels. The 28-year-old halfback is weighing up whether to recommit to the 2023 grand finallists on a deal worth a reported $1.25m a season, or join the Wests Tigers on a monster $1.4m contract.
Rothfield said he did not blame Moses for the situation dragging on but felt it was not doing the player’s reputation any favours, while also frustrating the club’s fans on the eve of the new season.
“This one has dragged on and on and on, it’s been an enormous frustration for Parramatta Eels fans,” Rothfield said on the Big Sports Breakfast on Monday.
“Parramatta have bumped their offer up to $1.2 million which is still a little bit short of what the Wests Tigers have offered.
“The Wests Tigers have not been informed that Mitch Moses has rejected their offer and the Parramatta Eels have not been informed that he’s staying there.
“I don’t blame the player here because it’s a big contract and it could be one of the final deals he signs in his career but I don’t know why he’s required this much time. The offers are there on the table.
“I’m a little bit disappointed he hasn’t made his decision. Just for Parramatta fans.
When these things drag on and drag on, the person who suffers is not the manager, not the club, it’s the player and his reputation.
“People immediately think, ‘geez is he being greedy?’ He’s been offered $1.2m to stay at a really powerful club ... I don’t think it does him any good and I think he’s long overdue to make the call.”

His uncle Benny said he's a greedy bastard and doesn't know which side of the family he got it from LMAO
Buzz is 100% correct. This has dragged on for way too long. 1.2 million is more than enough.
Either sign it or fuck off.
Yep west trigers still recon they have him . As Reg said in the interview yesterday . He doesn't care one way or the other. He goes or stays that's football. Hey

Sorry Drooper, but Grunt is right.....do you know how many times I have said this? and don't you dare call me "buttercup" have you read the rules!....
yep a few of us last year were rainbow unicorns because we were stating BA could take us to the grandfinal. Howd that turn out.
The only problem I have with Moses' delay is if it costs us his potential replacement. It would be better for the club if he made his decision sooner rather than later. I'm sure the Tigers feel the same. But as a negotiation tactic he's within his rights to wait. He hasn't played it out in the media either. Uncle Moses is just playing the waiting game knowing that every day he waits the price is likely to go up. Fair enough.
