"Wizzy, like you, Blocker Roach neither buys it nor makes any sense of it. Each to their own, suppose. I agree with Cronk, though would've preferred Pezet longer-term."

Could Austin’s defence be any worse than the Eels current defence? That’s the real question! I think Blake Austin would be a great signing for the Eels. However, the main issue is not what players the Eels sign but the coaching issue is of more major concern.
Austin is a dreadful defender, him and Moses defending in the halves together would be an absolute train wreck.
His defence is similar to his attack, very unreliable.
In '15 and '16 Austin was being touted as one of the likely NSW Origin halves and possibly even a future NSW captain. Has he lived up to that hype? No. Does he have some bloody good footy in him? Yes.
All I know is Foran was the buy of the century and turned into a dud. So prior form doesn't always predict future form. For me Austin shows enough of the right stuff to give him a shot. He's not as naturally gifted as Norman but he's also not as much of a liability off the field.
His defence isn't the best, but I also haven't seen it as bad as everyone likes to make out. I'd be happy to give Austin a go on reasonably modest coin, especially given he seems pretty keen on being an Eel.
