- I have , during the current season , on this site noticed opinions from members that no less than the following Eels players are worthy of current or future SOO selection : Blake Ferguson ( currently selected ) , Michael Jennings ( previously selected and played for NSW ) , Clint Gutherson ( currently an extra - this week added to NSW squad ) , then add good enough players Nathan Brown , Mitchell Moses and also Mako Siva if eligible . That is no less than 6 players from ours regular team are SOO grade according to opinion of some of us fans . Surely then with a couple of away wins under our belt ( which we desperately need to be convincing) we could be heading for as good a season as 2017 , I.e. top 4 finish ?.

Yes Bug thanks . First make the top 8 then after that it depends on our hunger to progress .
I think the count was up to 14 Parramatta Eels playing in Rep round that was including Mich Mosses, and not including the King

Definitely Slug . We all know we have 2 types of results to swing the doubtful towards positive thinking about eels at present . First is a win ( or 2 ) away . Second is convincingly beating one of top 4 sides in full strength . Might happen next weekend against Canberra ?? I think if we manage that most fans will be glowing with hope .
I guess that Bug is thinking the result of out LAST GAME ( v Broncos) indicates that “ we have turned the corner with consistency “ . Positive thinking and maybe shared by many fans . I do also think we may have turned the corner .
Haha I don’t think we can say we have turned any corners yet but I’m liking the way our side is looking. I believe at full strength we are a top 5 or 6 side. Problem is when we get a couple of injuries we struggle. Our back up players aren’t up to it. If we can keep the side that went out against the Broncos, or very near it, we can finish 5th or 6th I reckon.
Yes Micheal I agree . I would add that I think we are capable of anything when we are in the right mindset and provided we can learn to win away games between now and end the season who knows ??? Upon making the semis anything is possible ??
It's not impossible but i don't think this team is defending well enough to make top 4, i think our defense can improve enough to scrape into the top 8. Our attack is better than 17 but unless we can start winning away matches we are more likely to finish around 10th-11th.
Agreed 100 per cent HKF. Even if we win every home game and no away ones and still made the top 8 , who can expect us to win semi finals on away grounds if we have not won away convincingly . We would be no threat without at least a couple of away wins .
Hi Driza Port, We shouldn't try and equal 2017 - we need to be better.
In 2017 we were 4th on the ladder, gritty and won a few close matches - but 8th in attack and defence. That's not premiership material, nor grand final worthy material. That's middle of the road. History shows that very clearly.
Right now we're so up and down, we're an ad for valium. Our defence is the 2nd worst in the comp. That's bottom four material and also rans. We need to tighten our defence. Must. "If" we do, then relax, be patient and stay focused to let our attack flow we can be better. A big If.
