Is a loss this weekend unacceptable?

It's pretty well written that Cleary (their main man) is out, along with that the no crowd and a few of their players backing up from origin means Penrith won't be at full strength.

With all this in mind, is a loss really acceptable on our behalf?

If we are true premiership contenders, we should be winning this game, if we can't win I can only assume Brad has taken us as far as he can and it would be time to start looking around for a new coach.

  • Fair question but I don’t think a loss should be the end of Arthur.

It’s an opportunity to identify areas we need to correct if we are beaten.

  • Yes, a loss is acceptable. Anything less is unacceptable and the coach should move on.

  • Honestly if we are to make a statement after our poor games against the rabbitohs and sea eagles, we have to win on friday. We have a full strength team pretty much, other than Mahoney. If we lose as a top 4 side, it'll be disappointing and pretty much will show we are still a long way away from the teams above us.

We have to win and we have the squad to do so!

    • Well said Pride.

      • I'll give a serious answer to this.

Cleary is their best player, and is out. Mahoney, one might argue, has been our best player this season, and is also out. Those two players being out for their respective teams are potentially as significant as each other, i.e. you might say they cancel each other out. On that basis both teams have a really important player out, so are we really a better team than them, to the extent that we should simply be expected to win? Go check out the odds on all of the gambling sites. Better judges than you think the Panthres are still a better team than us.

        • How can you compare Mahoney and Cleary?

One is elite and in the Top 5 players in the game, Mahoney wouldn't make the Top 30 players.

          Another biased opinion.

          Scott

          • I'm not comparing the two players directly to each other, I'm comparing their importance to their respective teams. It would appear that is a bit hard for you to comprehend though, so I'll leave it at that.

            • But Meelk, you did premise your answer with "I'll give a serious answer". You can't expect to be taken seriously if you give serious answers. Seriously.

              • Lol. Maybe he didn't take it seriously because I forgot to sign off like I just wrote a letter to the Queen. I promise to do better next time.

            • Would agree Meelk and the Panthers have some quality players to back up the loss.
