Inu vs Merritt

With all the rumours going around lately that we are looking to sign Nathan Merritt i was wondering if anyone thinks there is any point when i think Inu would be a better player.

I keep hearing people saying that Merritt is too old and while i think he could still be a good player i think that, if we are going to sign a new winger to replace Sio (most likely) than it should be Inu. He is much bigger and stronger than Merritt (which is why Arthur chose Toutai in the first place), he is better defensively, I love the combination of Hopoate and Inu on the right and i can't point out enough how good it would be having a decent spare goalkicker.

They would be on about the same amount and if we are hell bent on signing another winger than i'd prefer Inu and may even be able to sign him to play for us this year.

  • Inu has always been a good player. But the bloke only puts in effort when it benefits him. Eg when his contract is up or he is in the NSW cup. The guy gives you about 10 good games a year then gets lazy. Its a shame really because he is such a talent he just doesnt seem to care
  • Neither are options
  • When we have kids like Fabian Goodall producing the kinds of perfomances they are and have outside backs like Hunt and Morgan who can't get in the side, I honestly think investing in another winger is the LAST thing wed' be thinking about

    • Please excuse me but ryan morgan is nothing but depth. Willy tonga is finished. I think inu would be perfect at centre right now as willy wont last the year. Why wouldnt the eels take inu at half price like the dogs have reni. Also the current kids are 2 years away and are not ready. Vai is not good enough so we have a player who can play wing centre and fullback wjo can kick for less that 200k. Seems to me a win win.

  • Don't need or want neither, we have good enough backs and back ups.

  • I'll rephrase the question. Instead of Merritt, which reports say we are trying to buy wouldn't Inu offer more value money?

    • to answer your question, its my opinion Inu would be better value....Merritt is a great at finishing a try, but thats pretty much their job. Inu can finish a try too.

But like everyone else said, dont need them, Sio gets the jobs done, and I actually like him as a player.

  • We dont need or want either, next.

"Seems it is Galvin's role at Dogs that is the issue, not necessarily Galvin per se? Galvin permanently replaced Sexton at #7 for Dogs in Round 20 of 2025. After 19 rounds going into Round 20, Dogs were 3rd (12 wins, 4 losses, 3 byes; 366 (f) vs 270…"
