Introducing The Cumberland Throw

On this rather early morning (thanks work!) it is my pleasure to introduce a new platform for digital content on the Parramatta Eels - The Cumberland Throw.

The Cumberland Throw is a collaborative effort that aims to centralise the blog work of myself and a few other members of the online community as well as provide some truly unique insight to fans of the blue and gold including in-depth interviews with Parramatta legends and behind-the-scene looks at the club. The site will also serve as a supplement to existing communities like 1EyedEel and LeagueUnlimited by focusing on producing original content to drive passionate and varied discussions about the club we all love.

Our site launch includes our very first Legends interview with Peter Wynn (conducted by miatch and edited by DK Eel) as well as some preseason thoughts from myself and other contributors like Sixtiesboy and Chris.

I appreciate anyone who takes the time to drop by and have a poke around as we look to start producing regular content and hopefully The Cumberland Throw will help alleviate the withdrawal pangs we all get in the preseason as we count down to the Auckland 9s!

Let me echo Forty's Christmas wishes and introduction to the new site. It is exactly that - new. It's not a forum, so it's meant as an adjunct to forum sites. It's not a new community, it's just an extra place to visit that we hope people will enjoy. Please be patient as content will grow as the season unfolds. For now, we hope you enjoy the original content, including the first in our series of legend interviews.

  It's Imoortant to note that it's not just Forty and me. We might be the ones talking it up here, but Chris, Miatch and DK are the other founders and collaborators. The site would not exist without them. Yes, we will add other contributors but the 5 of us got this started together. My thanks to all of those blokes for bringing into reality.

  How are the expenses paid for the site just out of interest, and do you have an interest in it being self supporting down the track?
  
  Will there be a forum on it down the track?, is this just stage one, no doubt you have big plans, how are you going to generate constant traffic?

  Thanks Ricky. We might just talk to you about some stats.
  Both Peter and Bob O'Reilly (our next one that we'll add) were very generous with their time and we actually had some good yarns off camera (pity). They both said that the interview was great for them as it brought back great memories. As fans, we have so many questions, which is why they had a yarn to us both before and after. I'll put my hand up and say I was guilty of asking too many questions even before we rolled cameras!
  Of course, editing 40 minute interviews is no small job so you'll have to bear with us. DK did the editing of this first interview.
