  • Stupid statement. We are a single player short (outer back) of winning a premiership. So the team is not out of kilter and we have kept our stars.

  • This bloke is a dope and a disrespectful one at that.

  • My goodness they really are going for the, no news agitate the Eels supporter base approach.

"They’re one of the great sporting clubs of the world" Yes. Thats about where the facts stop.

    Lets break this down:
    - "when it comes to being associated with failure."
There is failure and then there is under-achievment, the grotesque misuse of the word failure here is embarrassing. We have been reliably competitive for most of the last 10 years.

    - "This is not a bad team, but it is a heavily imbalanced one."
No team is perfectly balanced in this competition, thats the nature of the salary cap era. We are unfortunately for this persons reputation, well know as one of the most well balanced teams in the competition. We are 1 high level contributor in the outside backs away from as close to perfectly balanced as you can get.

-"They lost Reed Mahoney, unquestionably their best 9, and haven’t replaced him. They lost Isaiah Papali’i and saw much the same"
Reed Mahoney is one of the most overpaid players in the competition, So is Ice. Both were unknown and unwanted before they came to us. Just like Kelma Tuilagi. Im sick of this ridiculous argument, Reed is not that good and we offered him what he was worth. Papalii was close to droppable halfway through the year, unfit and ineffective.

The last part about our outside back quality is valid but to frame us as unbalanced and a failing club off the back of that is absurd.

    • In regard to Mahoney, he is not the best Hooker in the comp, but is good enough to be top 3. He also is better than all of our options at the moment. Our system does not rely on big dummy half play thankfully, but still doesn't mean Mahoney was an average player. Here is hoping our forsight towards Matthew Arthur is correct as he is the future.

      • Give me your top 8 hookers. I garuntee he won't be in the top 3. I wouldn't even have him in too 8, especially when you factor in price. We are paying Hands Lussick and MA what he wanted. Don't buy the media narrative.

        • Cmon LB, I'm excited to see what you end up with.

          • Sorry i did not see this earlier JB. I did say good enough to be. Never said he is at the moment. When he was with us in 2020 you could make an argument he was top 3.

There is no way we are paying Lussick, Hands and MA what Mahoney wanted, nowhere near it. Is Mahoney worth his $650k a year? No, i actually feel the $550k we offered is about spot on value.

            • Cmon LB have a crack I want to see what your rankings are, Ill have a crack too.

What you mean? 600-650k for Mahoney at the Dogs. We are paying MA minimum dev deal for a few years, Hands would be on close to minimum and Lussick max 400k.

              • Ohhhh i see what you mean, you mean all of them together cost what Mahoney alone would, my apologies.

I have to have some time to go through and think JB, so when i finish work i will sit down and have a look.

                • Yep there we go.

I look forward to it mate.

You'll have Reed bottom 6 or so I think. If you factor in Salary and value for money he is pretty much dead last.

Grant, Api, JMK, Robson, Cook, these guys are definitely all better.

Kenny is very underrated, there is Egan, Cheese,  Walters. I'd rather all of those guys then Reed.

The Brailey bros, are both better but one of them can't stay fit unfortunately. Same with Verrils, atleast as good as Reed but never on the field, that being said Randall the Titans back up hooker is better than Reed, way better in Defense and fit as a fiddle.

I'd rather have Reed than anyone in Canberra and Liddle and Croker but not at cost, no way.

Then where does Lussick land, I'd say middle of the pack but he is of the Kenny mold. Big tough defender, just enough creativity to not be boring and predictable but just gets to his assignment every time. Hands with good guidance can be all that and more but I think it's Lussicks job to lose.

Its hard to admit when someone like MON nails it but it's true, holding strong on our offer was really smart because Reed doesn't make us a better team for 600k.
