Injury Update: Eels to see Specialist

http://www.parraeels.com.au/news/2015/03/15/injury_update_eels_t.html

Scans have shown that Eels winger Semi Radradra has damaged his medial ligament whilst scans have confirmed centre Beau Champion sustained an ACL injury.

Both Radradra and Champion will be reviewed by specialists during the week but will be unavailable for Round 3.

So, Tepai is not on this list for his shoulder injury to see a specialist?  It seems to be a lot of discomfort for the young fella to be playing less than 100 percent and needing a needle to continue on playing at a risk of further injury to not have a specialist look at the extent of his injury.  Coaching staff are playing with high risk stakes here hoping that youth will over-come bruising, yeah right at who's expense?

Injuries are a major concern especially with good players and there has being a lot of concerns about the young talent Tepai.  I just hope that coaching staff are looking into how to manage these injuries for the short term needs of the team but understanding the importance of these players in the long term future for the club.

Lastly, I hope that players are supported in doing re-habilitation  and strength work-outs to help stabilize and strengthen injured areas.

  • My biggest concern is for Tepai. He is our future. He'll be with us for the next 10 years and win a grand final with us, unless something were to happen to him now...

  • I hear yeah GP.  Tepai is a big part in Parra's future and early injuries like he has now will diffidently affect his development.  Would love to see him out wider and limit his collision with the big boys.  NRL is the toughest league in the world.

  • I'm guessing maybe Tepai requires surgery of some sort and they will just needle him for now to get him through?

BA said it was just a stinger but the way he was carrying it on Friday reminded me of when Hoppa did his which basically farked up his season.

  • As far as I'm aware, Tep's injury is just severe bruising to a bicep tendon. It's not structural so doesn't require surgery but it must be extremely painful to play with. What a machine.
    • yes, read that in an article on saturday i think it was. said no further physical damage can be done, it's just painful. bruising to his bicep tendon, they were certain he'd play this week and it just had to be managed. if it was more serious i'd have no doubt we'd hear about him goin for more scans or appointments.

i've poted replies stating this a few times but it seems to be overlooked a fair bit.

  • Great point Poppa,  we, you and I hope that coaching staff are looking at and managing player injury seriously with the utter most priority to protect the investments of the players and the organization.

Sometimes we like to share what matters to us and hope our concerns could be herd and that it could make a difference.

  • I thought after the Manly game that I heard his injury described as a chronic nerve problem. Whatever it is that guy has a huge ticker.

  • U gotta feel bad for Champion. Rugby League is a very fickle game and you dont know how long your future will be
