Injury update

Pirtek Parramatta Eels back-rower Ben Smith will learn the full extent of his cheekbone injury this Wednesday when he visits a facial specialist. Smith picked up the injury in the Eels’ trial against the Penrith Panthers over the weekend and will miss this weekend’s trial against the Sydney Roosters at Bluetongue Stadium in Gosford.

Five-eighth Daniel Mortimer will also be unavailable for Saturday night’s double header in Gosford after a cut to his head from the Penrith game required 10 stitches.

Pirtek Parramatta Eels coach Daniel Anderson will be available to speak to the media from 1.30pm today at Parramatta Stadium, with training vision available from 2.00pm until 2.15pm.

I hope Anderson gives us a little but more insight into how benny is going. He really has had a pretty bad run with injury over the years...
