Indonesia ( incl Bali ) to criminalise Homosexuality.

So what's the thoughts people ? I know a few here will now be crossing Bali off their itinerary in fear of persecution in this tolerant and hand in hand part of the world . This is a real movement that's likely to happen in the not so distant future so I'm very interested in hearing the left leaning people here's thoughts on the biggest Muslim population in the world outlawing homosexuals. This is going to be a very interesting scenario to watch unfold as the LBGTIQPOTFV community is usually front line defending Islam and labelling people like me ( with homosexual friends and relatives ) as " intolerant "So lefties , you have the floor . What is your thoughts on Bali and Indo banning queers ? Should they be allowed to as it's against their beliefs or are 202 million Muslims (87%) being intolerant ? I mean they do hold 87% of the land so do they win in numbers and Homosexuals should lose because 87% of the population are religiously against bumming ?Further to this question is should Australians boycott Bali in protest if this law is introduced ?

I don't think you have to be a lefty to see this as a Stone Age act by a very intolerant religious group. I'm not gay but I full accept that a certain percentage of HUMAN BEINGS are and to outlaw homosexuality is nothing short of draconian.

I just read that 8 Indonesian men are facing 15 years jail for having a "gay party". Seriously, this has to be the most backward country on the planet. Years back I remember bali bombers getting between 3 and 16 year jail sentences and getting them cut back and now they want to put homosexual men behind bars for 15 years for having a party. I'm not gay either but enough is enough, I will never step foot in Indonesia again and I think human rights are being severly violated here

  Mate it's got nothing to do with the country and everything to do with religion . Convicted murderers , sex offenders , peddos and drug mules are having their sentences slashed for converting to Islam . Islam has taken control of Indonesia and is converting it into another Islamic State type scenario and even using the law to force conversion . Anyone that travels to that cesspool is ultimately funding the invasion .

I grew up very homophobic and that was the attitude at my western Sydney high school.

Now I'm middle aged my thinking has matured. Starting in the workforce exposes you to so many experiences and people that you otherwise wouldn't have had in your sheltered upbringing.

I am a supporter of people being happy. Society isn't going to dissolve if we allow gay people to marry or to 'party' It will probably become stronger.

Why they would want to marry is a different question altogether !!!

i don't like Bali so I won't be going back. Thailand is a much better place to go regardless of this stupid policy.

  I'm not 100% sold on gay marriage however I don't begrudge anyone shooting a load up anyone or anything they please . As someone very supportive of queers doing as they please in the bedroom , with people very close to me who are gay , I don't think I'm in favour of their " rights " to marriage .

I also don't see the relevance of your link ? The discussion is around Indonesia and their decision to ban homosexuals , however I am happy to discuss every Muslim country if the mods are happy for me to broaden the discussion . We could start with the fact that Iran was converted from a non Muslim country to 100% Muslim country within 200 years if you like? I mean we can compare what's happening around the world all day , what about Paris , The UK , Syria , S Arabia , Melbourne etc red etc etc . I mean how many do comparison links do we post ?
