The Independent Commission today announced that NSW will host 2 games next season. They were able to do this due to the fact that the original deal was struck with the former NRL management. As a result they could alter the agreements. As a New South Welshman I think it's about time we got 2 games at home. And that QLD finally got the raw end of the deal. Wally Lewis has said QLD has been ripped off, clearly forgetting how they won this year's series. Lewis went on to say that a QLD referee hasn't been chosen for an Origin game since 1987. He also said that as a result NSW has had the rub of the green. I'm not sure what Lewis has been watching but I'm pretty sure that NSW got robbed of this season's series due to poor refereeing.

Anyway, STICK THAT ONE UP YAH QLD

Next 5 Years:

The Australian Rugby League Commission has announced a five-year schedule that will see ANZ Stadium host two games in the 2013 State of Origin Series with Suncorp Stadium hosting the remaining match.

The five-year cycle will see Queensland and NSW each host two series in which they have two home games.

NSW will host two games in 2013 and 2016, Queensland in 2014 and 2017, with each state hosting one game in 2015.

The remaining game in the 2015 season will be played at a neutral venue. The NRL is currently in discussions with the Victorian Major Events Company about Melbourne hosting this match.

The schedule ensures that from 2010-2017 each state will have hosted one ‘two-game-series’ in every three years.

“The five-year schedule provides certainty for fans in each state while recognising the value of Origin on the Australian sporting calendar,” NRL Interim Chief Executive, Mr Shane Mattiske, said today.

“It is a schedule that puts an end to one state surrendering a game at the expense of another when matches are played at a neutral venue and allows for a clear cycle of events.

“This has been a thorough process that has involved extensive negotiation and I would like to thank the NSW, Queensland and Victorian Governments for the way in which those negotiations have taken place.

“Both the NSW and Queensland Governments have backed the schedule and each has expressed a strong commitment to supporting Rugby League.

“This is a schedule that steps back from past arguments about which state has hosted the most games to provide a fair outcome for both. At the same time the new schedule provides an important opportunity to grow Origin and Rugby League in new markets.”

The 2013 Origin Series will see matches at ANZ Stadium on June 5 and July 17 and Suncorp Stadium on June 26.

Tickets for both ANZ Stadium matches will be on sale to NRL Ticketed Club Members from next week and to the general public from early December. The on-sale date for the match at Suncorp Stadium is yet to be confirmed.

  • Wally is a big Wally.............The days of a QLD comp and NSW comp finished 20 years ago, We now have a national comp with national refs there are no NSW or QLD refs only AUS refs, If any of you are old enough to remember the grasshopper you will remember how blatantly the QLD refs cheated, AUS & NSW refs make mistakes but QLD refs are as just plain CHEATS.
    • Phil Gould to Hollywood Harrigan: "What would you do if I called you a cheat?"

      "I'd send you off."

"What would you do if I thought you were a cheat?"

      "I can't do anything."

      "Very well. I think you're a cheat."

  • Yes you are!!!!!

  • Sounds like Wally is having one of his turns again...

  • The NSW Board or whoever runs the show down there were stupid to give up one of their home games last year . Just lucky they have 2 games in Sydney next year ... Thats now 2 years in arow !!!
  • Kingy................NSW gave up a game to Melbourne for the benefit of the "game", Without the "Game" the QLD team can all sit around and jerk themselves off, This is where RL shoots itself in the foot, All teams and states are only interested in their own glory and could not give a F@#K about The "Game", This is where AFL kills RL, AFL's motto is "no one is bigger than the game"
  • I don't think there was one about this topic exactly. I recall some anger over NSW forfeiting their second home games. I posted this blog before the NRL had even released a statement. That statement is below the Borat picture.

  • Nah, much prefer stirring sh1t and getting you into trouble :)
