The most positive thing to come out of the past month for me, is the fact that I honestly believe Ken Edwards is a very genuine, capable chief executive who will push the club forward.
I've been particularly impressed the Edwards hasn't stepped back from describing the parlous state of where our club is at right now. At last year's AGM, member Matt Carroll asked a simple question in relation to KPIs surrounding the transition of our juniors into the NRL. The board took it on notice and after 12 months, Matt finally got a response when Edwards presented on the work that was being done at that level now going forward. He admitted that the club currently did have any such KPIs in place to track this kind of thing but would do, going forward.
As I left the AGM yesterday I briefly had a word with Ken and said to him again, that if we truly wanted to be a membership-based club we had to let members vote. He said to me that the voices of myself and others had been heard and that if wanted to get to 40,000 members they had to be able to vote. After all that I've been through over these past few months, that simple little exchange probably made it all worthwhile.
I do believe Edwards has enough autonomy from the board that he can address many of the problems that have caused our club to struggle. I do believe he's open to hearing members points of views and that he will push our club forward in the right direction. As Edwards has said on numerous occasions there is nothing but upside from our club because we're coming from such a low base in how we've operated in recently years.
Of course, we still have to see if all the right words translate into the right actions. However, the addition of a professional membership manager is a strong start.

I said it with Anderson - then repeated it with Kearney and will continue to say it.
Edwards, and the coach whoever it may be at the time, will continue to struggle to achieve anything until such time as the Board are completely banned from anything related to the team apart from ADMINISTRATION of the strategies put forward by the CEO and Coach.
I will reserve judgement on Edwards until he has had some reasonable time in his position.
He is 'Talking the Talk" - but will he be permitted to "Walk the Walk" ?
All my impressions so far is that he does seem to have autonomy in the position. But you're both absolutely right, we'll see I guess over the next year or so. I got to hold onto something though!
If the club wants more members, the club needs to start winning some f...... games
to do that they need to sign some f...... players.
Not rocket science.
Dont know yet Phil, we havent really seen any positive changes as yet. If it so bad then he should be able to quickly make an impact..
Do you think Todd Greenburg would have the same impact at Parramatta that he has had at the Dogs ?
I know the Eels are trying to emulate the Dogs but are still miles behind, but at least we are trying..
Agree with Col, hire the right people, experts not jobs for the boys and let them do their job and we will be successful.
P.s. I noticed Roy was sitting next to Greenberg at the NRL conference today, i hope some of Greenburg rubbed off onto Spags and some of Spags onto Greeny... :-)
I am hoping that Edwards may be the next Greenburg - Xman
Would make a nice change around Parra.
Ken seems like a great bloke i know its still early stages but so far soo good. He replies back to my tweets aswell, he told me earlier tonight that the club didnt table a formal offer, he knew Tamou was not interested in Parra he wanted to remain in NQ. Its abit of a worry though, if he wasnt interested then we could find it tough signing top players even under sticky

I have lived in Townsville and I was born and bred in Sydney - I know which one I would choose - and it sure as hell ain't Sydney.
I can understand guys wanting to stay up there - cyclones and all LOL
i think many of us are hoping the same mate...
I dont buy the hype around Greenberg. The dogs have thrown a ton of cash into the club in the last few years and they were going in much the same direction as parra til they poached Hasler. Ordinary results with a far better roster than ours, sacked coach and they just lucked into Hasler due to his Clash with the Manly powerbrokers. He reminds me of Searle at the Titans, says all the right things and comes across as a real genius in the media but besides throw a heap of cash at a coach and players what has he done?
