I've noticed that Darcy Lussick has been copping it a bit of late, and to be honest, I think its a bit short-sighted.
We're talking about a guy who in his first season with us, was player of the year. We're talking about a guy who has continually led our forward pack in terms of both aggression and line speed. And like David Gower, he's a guy who speaks well and obviously has a bit going for him upstairs.
And I'll admit that to date, he's had a crappy season.
However, that's largely the result of the interrupted season he has had because of the suspension. I thought he had a strong game in the opener against New Zealand before the Roosters game where he at least showed the willingness to try and fire up his team. First game back he had a pretty poor game against the Tigers but I thought he was probably our best prop in the North Queensland game (which is backed up the stats - his 10 runs for 84 metres was the best of our front row contingent and his entry onto the field coincided with our resurgence as we managed to stop the NQld roll.
I still think he's part of our best front row rotation and he will keep getting better. It's easy to forget that at 24 he's still in his formative years as a front rower and you don't take out player of the year in your debut season for the club without having performed well. Those writing him off on the back off what to date has been an interrupted season are in my view doing so with very short memories.
We need both his size and aggression and I think eventually he'll rotate with Junior Paulo as our "big prop", with the likelihood that Mannah and Mossop rotate as the smaller props with legspeed.

I think peoples expectations are very high because of his very high salary.
I am looking forward to see how our pack preforms once it settles and all players are available.
..and why was he suspended? For unnecessarily attacking the head of an opponent...just one of the many stupid penalties he's given away. He's had 4 games & did nothing in any of them. I've never seen him bend the line once or offload.
People have got to stop living in the past...its not 2013 anymore & the current team is far superior to last years. It wasn't hard to be the best player last year. Ok there are a number of players that were there last year but at least they have shown improvement with the new additions unlike Lussick who is playing worse.
I injured mine 6 months ago and I thought I was 100% after 6 weeks of physio. I've since re-injured it and it's a real pain when it comes to any form of explosive movement let alone change in direction.
oh yes & you're here because you were the greatest player ever. Love how people can criticize others that they know nothing about. If you disagree with someone's opinion then at least have the intelligence to state why instead of making stupid assumptions.
I agree, Phil.
And I believe the time has come to rid this site of those who think differently.
Or at least shun them.
Round 1 14 runs 114m
Round 2 5 runs 37m
Round 7 5 runs 41m
Round 8 10 runs 84m
Our 'big' prop on large money should be able to produce a game where he averages 10m a run. People are right to question him. I don't care what he did last year. His defence has been ok but this year he has been very average running the ball. If he is injured or unfit then he shouldn't be playing
