Last night's 8-1 penalty count definitely helped this stat, but after 15 rounds we have conceeded the fewest penalties of any team (55) next best is the Dragons with 57 (with a game to play) In comparison to last year where we conceeded 6.2 a game, this year we are conceeding 3.6 a game. The NRL are not collating stats on set restarts which may distort this somewhat, but for me it's been a noticiable improvement this year and we rarely have those periods in a game where we give away back to back penalties.

Some weeks they show improvement and some they fall back into bad habits. Last night they noticeably got off the tackled player quicker than the Storm. The Storm were allowed to lay on for ages, but the directive to the Eels must've been 'give the ref no excuses', Thought that aspect of the game was great, as was the defence. They need to nuance their attack better. I might be in the minority but I thought taking the easy penalty goal showed they are starting to think about the game in a broader way. Keep getting out past converted tries and trust in your defence. Apart from the lack of smarts in attack, particularly after half time, I thought it was a good performance.
Take it from a fella who's made more than his fair share of collect calls from the Moscow Marriot: discipline is a commodity that is to be bought and sold at market price.
The fact that the Dragons are second-best on this stat tells you all you need to know about it.
As my good friend Jeffrey would often tell me with a twinkle in his eye - guilty, is always a matter of interpretation.
