If you were to build a team based of the current players off contract at the end of the season who would be in it?

For me I'd go

1. Lachlan Coote 500k for 3 years
2. Josh Mansour 350k for 3 years
3. Robert Jennings 300k for 2 years
4. Kevin Naiqama 300k for 2 years
5. Jamayne Issako 250k for 4 years
6. Blake Austin 400k for 2 years
7. Alexander Brimson 125k for 1 year
8. Leeson Ah Mau 400k for 3 years
9. Api Koroisau 500k for 3 years
10. Tim Glasby 350k for 3 years
11. Josh Papalii 600k for 3 years
12. Jaydn Su'A 200k for 2 years
13. Tevita Pangai Jr. 400k for 3 years

14. Adam Douehi 200k for 2 years
15. Junior Paulo 400k for 2 years
16. Tui Kamikamica 130k for 1 year
17. Kurt Dillon 150k for 1 year

Obviously there isn't many stars off contract so it isn't a star studded team, but I'd still be confident that team would turn into a top 8 team by 2-3 years leave space to sign a Star Half. Mix of hard working forwards that would eat our current pack. Not an experienced side with lots of first grade experience but has lots of potential with current players who've already established themselves in the Nrl such as Coote, Mansour, Papalii, Koroisau. with like $3 million in cap space opens opportunity to sign 2 megastars in the coming year for a premiership run imo id go Cleary for 900k for 4 years & Coen Hess for 4 years with 800k. Obviously I don't know if those players current contracts are around that but thats what id offer them and what I think they're worth & if everything was smooth sailing and you managed to sign all those guys then thats a quality team that you can build around and keep for a couple years.

Who would you sign? Am I paying overs for some or not enough for some players? Would this team be able to make the 8?

Based on asking price and not value, I think you’d be under paying-

1. Mansour - around the 500 mark

2. Austin - isn’t he in a stand off and wants close to 700?

3. Paulo - more so around 550-600 mark (I would also start him ahead of Glasby)

4. Adam Douehi - probably worth a tad more than that (this one is based on value rather than asking price)

but that’s just my opinion.

That's an interesting paper exercise. Who out of those would you go for to fill contracts that end at Parra this year? Not a huge selection where we need it the most.

this is the Team id build on the hypothetical criteria that the only requirement is they are off contract. The value isn’t their worth or what i think they’d be in but rather the max amount I’d offer if I was offering out contracts. Sometimes overs can’t be avoided but for the sake of argument let’s just pretend I’m a board member WITH their integrity and dignity still in tact
