Parramatta Leagues Club Reform

Dear Members and Supporters,

All Parramatta Eels Club members (PLC) who are three-year financial members please Save the Date of 10th September 2019. The is the date for the meeting for a vote on constitutional reform at the Parramatta Leagues Club (“PLC”).

This is one of the most important meetings in the Parramatta Eels recent history as eligible PLC voting Members will have an opportunity to endorse important governance reforms that will ensure that the stability and growth that we have achieved over the last three years in the Football Club continues.

The Football Club with your support, is starting to move towards its rightful place as one of the premier sporting organisations in Australia. We are not there yet but we are heading in the right direction. To ensure we maintain the current level of stability and continue our period of growth, the Football Club is committed to supporting the PLC Administrator, Max Donnelly in his attempt to implement key reforms at the PLC.

It is critical to the ongoing success of the Parramatta Eels that we have stability on our Board. As such, we are asking all Eels Members and fans who are three-year financial members of the PLC to attend RSVP and attend the meeting.

For more details on reform and all FAQs please read the below.

This is in the best interests of our club. A Yes vote and our Administrator leaves and the club can move forward.

Anyone who votes No is voting against the entire organisation and in their own self-deluded, self interest.

Turn up, Vote Yes let’s just move forward.

  • About time max put some effort into getting members to vote, where was all this promotion the last 3 times they tried to get the reforms through?.

  • Well said Muttman. I’ve been to every vote in the past and left the meeting very dejected at the outcome. We’re seeing  great progress in all areas of our club, let’s not undo it and give it back to the factions and their own self interests!

    VOTE YES......I will.....

  • I am trying to organise myself so I will be able to come and vote.

Is there anything I can do if I cannot attend?

    • Tell other members who are eligible to go and vote.

  • Can anyone say with any concrete  knowledge if a elected director will have  a set term they can be a director for ?

Will a director be forced to step down after a set term and be ineligible for re election or only  eligible to re stand for the board after a certain period has passed?

If Max Donnelly is to select the new board and members are not happy with their efforts will members have the ability to do something about it or will they be powerless?

    • I believe it is a maximum of three consecutive 3 year terms, or a maximum of 9 consecutive years

    • First members votes will occur in 2021. Directors will be up for election every three years with a maximum directorship of 10 years.

Full details on the vote are available here: https://www.parraeels.com.au/reform

"This is just a thought, but I think that Pezet had to take up on his clause before the season started, or else he'd be locked into a long-term contract with the storm, so by being our backup 7 this year, it lets him get to the Broncos earlier than…"

"Bit of a shame we're losing Hawkins. He was the best backup 7 we've had in a while and done a great job while Moses was out.
Does that mean Volkman moves to 7 and Joash moves to 5/8 in NSW Cup?"

Poupou Escobar replied to Cʜɪᴇғy Mclovin 🐐's discussion Ryles never wanted Pezet as a long-term signing- Chammas
"These guys are pro athletes, not office workers. Their reputation is part of what motivates them.
As for Papalii, he will still be at the club in 2027. Moses will probably miss half the year so Papalii will get plenty of game time."
