If we were to lose points?

Just a question, if we were to lose points, how many do you think we could recover from? How many is too many? Is there the possibility that the loss of some points would forge the team even further, given that a number of successful teams have built their culture around an 'us vs them' mentality, or is there a point where the team sees the whole thing as hopeless? I remember Cameron Smith saying to the ref during the season where they couldn't accumulate any points and a penalty had been given to the other team ' We've got nothing to play for anyway' or words to that effect. What can this new Parra team recover from? Thoughts....

  • Momentum is everything in life . We have a real chance this year , I refuse to wait for tomorrow !!! Like most have stated 4 points ok six max . I don't see any added value from a siege mentality . We have the talent , bond , innovation coach and CAPTAIN . It's now or never . It's thirty yrs . The stars are aligned .
  • I think this is actually a good question for the site, because if taken seriously it points to footy matters.

Logistically it would be tough to recover from points loss and make the 8. We all know that.

But the 2016 team is showing a spirit and toughness we have not seen from an Eels team for a very long time. Norman's on field interview after the Raiders game was instructive, because he said they were peeved the Raiders got those 6 points. They should not have been scored, he said. So we score 36 and complain about conceding a bit of a fluke try.

If that kind of attitude is a guide, we could very well go on a "point to prove" roll.

I suspect someone like Jr Paulo might slack off toward the end if wins don't matter, setting himself up for an injury-free ride to a new club. But others, like Tep or Alvaro or Edwards, might try to develop game skills in the heat of battle, if loses don't truly matter (short term loss, long term gain). So players might respond differently depending upon what they think they need long term.
  • We could recover from a 2 point penalty, possibly 4. Any thing bigger will be too hard, mentally as well as practically
  • I think we could lose 6 and still make the playoffs. Anything more would be very tough. 34 points is only 15 wins and with a good for and against we may sneak in on 28 points.
  • Anymore than 4 and we have no chance
  • The problem seems to be escalating l don't like this at all they will probably make sure we don't play finals footy this year. I hope not but there is a lot of haters out there.
  • The betting markets for the Eels is still open and the bookies know first and best.
You know we are in trouble when the markets are suspended
  • We are in huge trouble. I can't get my head around the fact we were paying over for shit teams. We got wooden spoons for f@#k sake!!
  • No points will be deducted.
  • I don't think the lack of suspension of betting markets is relevant - bookies will happily take our money at unders - there are no wooden spoon markets any more - it's the least number of wins which isn't affected by loss of points.
