If we're CEO

The frustration at the NRL this year has been hard to handle at times. As punters at times the best ideas seem to come from regular lovers of Rugby League. So if you were CEO, what changes would you make? What ideas do you have that you think would make this game, a better game.1. I would change the shoulder charge rule. Having a collision head on with both attack & defence knowing what's going to happen is no different then getting hit by three defenders at once.2. Any player that's being hit high or has gone to the head bin must wear head gear mandatorily for three weeks, including the current game he playing.3. I would simplify the rules similar to what they once were, this separation & obstruction needs to have common sense. Like when you kick down field and both fullback and attacking winger jump for the ball, winger lands first & fullback on top. How that a penalty? Common sense would help a lot!Your thought?

  • It does protect, how can you say something padded don't protect? Get your head out of your arse, topical, have nothing to contribute so bag a suggestion. Madison, also work for the NRL.
    • Not even going to bother! To tell anybody wearing some sort of padding no better then to heads clashing with nothing only goes to show who the dope is. Hitting a punishing bag with no gloves I guess is the same as wearing protection? It's dopes like you that makes other supporters laugh at us. Best you go back to your hankies and apple screen.
    • Because they do fuck all genius! You have one article read out to you and all of a sudden you know it all!! Dumb kunt like you, should really take the off season off!! What's your input? What?? Nothing!!! Lol yeah wasn't expecting much, go read up and come back next year dumb fuck!
  • Tin Tim : This needs some calm and considerate thought. At this time of the morning you will not get that from me! Rather a pot puree of ideas---like it or lump it.

    1. Your idea about head gear, while well meant, is irrational--see Brocktop.

2.I would ensure that no CEO is a psychopath. The NRL should be a psychopath free zone.

3.I would fine any referee who does not take action on a high tackle.

    4. I would have a progressive penalty count displayed on the score board at every ground. The fans could then see the bias that referees come up with---re Titians v Broncos in  final match, as an example.

    5. The judiciary system in the NRL needs a complete clean out--doubt that ex- players are the best people for that job.

    6. Should eliminate the madness of wanting a faster game each year--a fast game does not mean a good game.Should slow the game down somewhat to get the charm back into the game.

    7. Return to one referee system. Works well enough in England, where they are more strict on head high tackles thus protecting the welfare of players.

    8. Return to 1st grade, 2nd grade and 3rd grade all age system which used to be the preferred system.

9.Permanently disqualify any person who claims to be excited about next year! Give them the Lloyd cuckoo award as they pass out of the door for the last time.

    • Yes one ref seems to be the call. Having two didn't make it any better.
  • Wow great thoughts. But do you think the bunker a waste? I think it's just not working as well as it could be. That goes back to these interpretations of the rule, if you just had this, is it a try with normal speed then award it. Slowing it down just causes doubt & confusion. We all know that it comes back to human error, it's always going to have that element but we can reduce it.
  • Penalty for diving and the refs must front the media after each game.

  • I think slowing it down has caused a lot of the problem. Placing the ball down then it separates, then your pushing down again is no different in (pressure or force) by the time it hits the ground. But in slow seeing gap causes the ref to press No Try. Again your just causing debate. But if you see them loose control, then end up with a hand on the ball yes no try. Common sense here you think?
  • Kill the ability of the ref to decide how many KFC ads we see each game.
  • If the refs arent sure re a try then they send it upstairs for adjudication. If they cant tell then on field ref goes with gut feeling or benefit of doubt.

Specialist bench players for when on field players cant return after a foul from the opposition. Possibly the sin binning of a player who due to a penalty causes another player to leave the field for a head knock.

Sin bin continual penalties given away in the 10m trying to slow the play. This is a professional foul and its getting out of hand.

Dont go to the bunker to check a possible foul if the attacking team is in the op 10, it only allows the op to recover and doesnt give the benefit to the attacking team.

Bring back shoulder charge but add bigger penalties for shots that go wrong.

Suspension only for aggressively touching a ref or yelling at a ref esp if not the captain.

Penalty for someone staying down if the contact is not deemed a penalty. I know, that one is hard to assess.

Please get rid of golden point for normal season games. If you have the same points at the end og 80mins you both deserve to get 1 point each and that could be the difference between making finals.

Allow forwards to punch those irritating hookers who just need one on the chin :)
