So if the rumours are true that Papali'i is on his way back here, how does our bench line-up. RCG, Paulo, Hopgood and Lane play big minutes, so will Papali'i. Matterson will also. But it'll be a bench of Cartwright, Matterson, Greig and Ofahengaue (Ofa is on decent coin so he will be playing, I think he will have a good 2024)
But is it too congested? I think we need a Hooker on the bench at least but a bench like that would be really good too.
Or we release a player, Matterson being the only one I think that would happen to, leaves a bench of Cartwright, Greig and Ofahengaue as our middle options, I don't think Cartwright suits that role, yet he shouldn't start over Papali'i as I see Papa as better than Carty.

Cartwright is our most improved player this year and should keep his position with Lane the other second rower. If Papa comes back he will be part of the middle forward rotation. Matterson resigned on big money, he will be in the 17. Bench, Matto, Papa, Ofahengaue and I suppose a back up 9. Grieg would be a middle injury cover.
But Greig is worthy of a spot too, if Ofahengaue was not on big coin Greig would get spot over him easily.
Ofahengaue is being subsidized by the tigee around 200k per season

If papalii is coming back to play middle then don't bring him back , we have more than enough middle depth, we need another starting quality edge forward.
Highly doubt it will happen BUT I would give the Tigers Davey, Makatoa & Ogden for ICE any day
Which is why it wouldn't happen. Trades have got to be mutually beneficial. You can't trade a bunch of benchies & backups for a starter, unless of course the Tigers were desperate to offload Papa.
I wouldn't sign Papa. We need to move on and address our spine depth and outside back depth/quality

We are fine for middles and Papali'i would be a monumental waste of money considering our backline issues.
I wouldn't mind either way if being honest EA, though let's be fair not a bad thing having Papa back. But yeah use that money for better depth.
