I'm sure he'll still walk into a NSW jersey but Cleary was extremely poor in the GF. Minimal involvement, poor defence and "didn't step up against a top side" . There's your NSW half back. Maybe he deserves a little more scrutiny?

  • If Moses played as consistent as Clearly has done throughout the year and nearly snag the Daily M, no minds would be lost.

    • He did last year.

      • Yep, and less criticism came his way.

      • So did Luke Brooks. Do you think Guth better than Paps? Guth is Eels best player.

  • I'm sorry I don't like it, lacks substance. In other news on triple m can smith plays on in 2021 and will make his mind up at the end of next year.

  • The 5/8 was terrible also. I don't know why more teams during the year didn't exploit his poor defence. Penrith should have started with naden as well.

    • Luai improved this year too even compared to start of season. You would love him at Eels. I think he made the perpetually long SOO squad as well. Long list of players stops the selection being elite IMHO.

  • Hehe - love it Mutty.

I mentioned some time back the major flaw in Cleary's game is he is a one trick pony, get the ball and turn it back inside nine times out of ten. Stoopeed, stoopeed football, almost as good as five up the middle with a hail mary kick on the sixth.

    Freddy loves big chins.

[Edit] Mutty, if half the minds on this site were lost last night, then the other half that are already lost would make this site the perfect asylum.

  • The thing is who gives S**** about Cleary. We are worried about Mosses. The truth is Penrith is playing GF we are not. They beat storm 2 in the comp and roosters twice. So let's not compare Cleary with Mosses. He had a bad at office. This comp is funny, all year round they are the best team and you falter once and no one talks about you any more...

I would blame the silly mistakes more than Cleary. They kept on giving cheap meters to Storm...

  • Agreed Mutt, the site would. In defence of Cleary he made a couple of errors; but Melbourne were too strong in the first 40. HIs inside defenders at times were also poor. In some way this GF was like Parra 2001 (favourites etc.) and got blown off the park in the first half, albeit different circumnstances / weather etc. Penrith have some really good players, but I felt their forwards at times had little impact. I hate to say it but Melbourne were too clinical and tough; and the last 10 mins Melb had two guys binned, and one of those in my view was debatable. The first one was a 50/50 call.

Perpetual Motion replied to LB's discussion North Queensland Cowboys Winger Murray Taulagi set to exit Cowboys, could he be an option for Parramatta?
"He would be the ideal replacement but we probably wouldn't get him to 2027. Is Hiroti off contract now? I'm reading conflicting reports."

LB replied to Roy tannous's discussion Lomax gone immediately
"Coryn you have a point. Ryles seems to have preferred Lomax goes now as he doesn't want to be a part of the future. Yet Pezet also decided to not be part of the future?
It is a double standard."
