I'm sorry ref but you nearly decided it

The ref vs cows has the potential for creating the best spectical, sure. I actually think this is true. He minimised penalties and basically ignored 6 agains. This was ok because it allowed us to decide who won, albeit by less than we would have had he called some ruck infringements. At any rate we won and were clearly the better side.

The problem is when such a ref (one that ignores some infringments for purposes of flow) does find a penalty he needs to make sure he gets it right. He failed last night with that penalty with around 14 mins to go. The late tackle on the kicker. That was potentially the worst call we have had this year in the context. It effectively allowed the cows to win a game they had no right to. Sadly the ref failed last night. Poor bloke needs to go back to drawing board.

  • I actually like it he missed a few things but the game flowed which was good

    • Yeah I bet watching non-parra games will be great. I'd say he's the best ref to watch nrl games. But yeah, like I say, when he calls one he needs to get it right.

    • Agreed

    • Agree, thought he was pretty good. Could of nailed both teams a bit.

  • The cowboys held down the ruck all night

  • Watched it at Commbank last night.  Without doubt one of the most inept performances from a match official for this year IMO. The ruck was a joke, the 10 non existant and the lack of decision making was scary. This game could have went easily the other way through this blokes inability to get the ' flow of the game ' and the interpretation of the rules.  The other issue I had was the Cowboys forwards lingering in the dfefensive l;ine fort the first 3 tackles of their sets basically waiting for the play to come to them. The worst offender was Granville who was standing in A and B more than once. Not on.

  • Agree it was an extremely poor example of refereeing and clearly administering the rules of the game. The Cowboys were clearly inside the 10 metres for more of the game than on the 10 metres either that or they're super fast athletes. The Cowboys players continually tried to slow down the play the ball by holding down Eels players. Hope they don't have this referee too often. Overall the refereeing and bunker has been poor this season. Need some more good quality ref's

  • The good thing is the luck and the calls went against us all night but we stuck at it and got the win.

Thats big for this team who are usually pretty weak minded when shit goes wrong

  • Nah I don't like it, if it's a penalty it's a penalty blow the dam whistle. This type reffing  brings melbourne wrestling tactics back in the game cowboys slept on us all game despite us winning the contact, they had second and third attempted tackles on already tackled players. We are a team that's scared to give away one of these penalties so we peel of quick, if the game was reffed as it should have been we put way more points on.

Ashley klein previous week against rabbits let the game flow but pulled penalties up when they were, that reffing performance was the best of the year.

  • I think it was the best reffed game no stupid 6 agains except the couple we got, flowed well and enjoyable to watch. as for us getting the short straw and should of won by more take off the rose coloured glasses we slowed the ruck down just as much as any other team.
